Quickly scanned through JP. Good news is it's not bad, "bad" news is it's not ultra-mega-fantastic if you were hoping for that. A lot of the shots are largely untouched (especially darker interior shots it seems, like in the control room) and look great, but there's also a decent amount of Universal's trademark noise-reduction going on. Thankfully it's much less frequent and offensive than on E.T. for example.
Colors are very natural, it's a lot closer to the old BD than the heavy, yellow, print-like look of the 3D one. I even found the colors a bit too subdued and the white point a bit too cold in a couple of shots. It's not exactly a pristine 4K Sony transfer, but still leagues ahead of the ancient BD. I don't think anyone's going to be disappointed. ![]() |

I can’t comment on the physical disc (as I don’t own it), but I watched it in 4k HDR a couple weeks ago and it’s completely stunning, start to finish, its simply magical seeing it on an OLED, it’s the best contemporary classic science fiction release since Blade Runner. Hold onto your butts.
Also caught samples of The Lost World - Jurassic World, and the original is easily the most impressive, the entire audience I saw it with was in awe. Last edited by Tristold; 05-09-2018 at 01:04 AM. Reason: Classic to contemporary classic. |

Any catalogue title that has consistently sold well on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray will eventually get re-released. Back to the Future is a huge seller, and a much loved series. It will get a UHD release, it's just a matter of time.

^I think he was shuddering at the passage of time.
If otherwise, then old balls should go and rest on the ice flow. |

Looks like it came out on 5/7 in some parts of the world. Finland for example: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Juras...lu-ray/198104/
