Alright... By now in the thread I'm assuming everyone knows where the on/off "button" is on the console. So this is a complaint that the BT remote doesn't have an off switch. Hmmm... Never cared because I always want to take the disc out and therefore the console button is nice and handy.

ok. I just read this thread. I've owned a PS3 AND remote for half a year now. I have goads of books and DVDs and BDs and what nots in my bed (pussies too) and i've never had this problem. even when the cases/books/pussies piled on top of each other bury my remote and controller and I have to fish them out.

But since I read this, I'll experiment by pushing the books/cases/pussies even harder. Something good might come out of it.

Wow... are we off topic yet? I didn't realise how a technical contrivance about home theatre equipment could get me so sexually aroused!

Imagine if turning off our TVs were than complicated?

What's wrong with having a simple On/Off button on the remote??? Is that too much for Sony to do on a machine I paid $500+ for?

And I have to hold the button on the front of the PS3 down for more like 4 to 5 seconds to get it to turn off. Just using the switch in the back isn't something I think of as safe, I'm guessing.
I hate to say it, but I agree. My daughter turns mine on all the time - a minor annoyance, but it is something that could be fixed.

It's a flaw in the design. Hopefully a FW update someday will make it harder to turn on with only a tap. Turning it off remotely with the PS button menu is good but only if you are on that output.

If you are watching TV then it's an unnecessary pain in the butt just to turn it off.

Yeah, and I don't even have kids. I can imagine what it would be like to have kids and a cat.

And the power company thread made me laugh. Why should we need an on/off button on the remote when we can just call the power company??

Someone on AVS suggested I buy a "Clapper"!

Perhaps Sony could offer some sort of Clapper discount coupon?
