I was finally able to retire my japanese bootleg. I am wondering if you guys could get your hands on Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains. I know its a Paramount title and we all know what bastards those guys are but sometimes they do license out the treasures that are rotting away in their vaults. It has the only film appearance of one of my favorite bands, Black Randy and the Metrosquad. I gave up hope on this ever getting released (even in DVD again) until you guys did D.O.A. and with criterion releasing Smithereens, maybe anything is possible...
Thanks so much. Filmmaker Richard Schenkman (The Man From Earth, Went To Coney Island on a Mission From God...) is responsible for the extras on that D.O.A. disc so he deserves the credit. I just Executive Produced. So glad you liked them!

Right now we have no deal with Paramount. Maybe someday. Gotta do a good job with the new MGM stuff we picked up (just announced Walking Tall (2004), Autumn in New York, Barbershop, Barbershop 2 and Beauty Shop... more to come) first and then I'll see what I can do. Thanks again for your support. Follow our pages on Facebook! All the details on the MGM announcements are up on the Marquee page.

Great to see you have a deal with MGM now (and their 8th sublicensing deal so far!). Guess the debacle with Windrider was a blessing in disguise (or whatever that film was that you didn't know MGM had).

So does this deal you have with them consist of the 00's library or are there any 90's or 80's titles included (maybe some StudioCanal titles too that MGM has)?

I'm hoping you will say 1.78:1 so I can toss that aside and hopefully have a clean master with the correct aspect ratio. Let me know. Thanks!
MVD Rewind Guy, I just double checked, and unfortunately it affects both aspect ratios. I should also point out that it affects both the 5.1 and 2.0 tracks. It's a really weird mishmash of a track, clearly they (Krekel) tried to take the audio from the extended cut and fit it to the U.S. cut. But the strange thing is he must of had access to the U.S. cut audio as well, since the entire airplane fight at the end of the film is removed from the extended cut, but present on the Blu-Ray.

I wonder if Pyun asked for this change himself, or if Digidreams took some creative license with this track? If Pyun wanted this change, it was most likely due to the different voice over (Marjorie Monaghan in the U.S. cut, Olivier Gruner in the extended). If that's the case, then all you would have to do is fix the out of sync audio and remove the extraneous dialogue at the end of the film.

Who knows, they may have already fixed it since putting their disc out, it has been 4 years.

Thanks again MVD Guy for the great work you're doing!

Would love to see the uncut end fight between JCVD and Bolo -- even if it's just as an extra.

A couple of the missing shots appear in the trailer:

Good ol Bill, nice to see that you bring that same keen eye to detail when getting a dig in as you do when QCing a Code Red release.

It was a blessing. I'm motivated, that's for sure and clearly obsessed with putting out an 80's film built around the sport of "Windsurfing".

The deal isn't just for 00's stuff. I'm just staring with super commercial stuff that will resonate with both collectors and the casual buyer as well. Once we get through the first round we'll go back and see what's what. I'm just not chasing super old movies at MGM. As you know, I do like the 80's & 90's.

I dunno. This doesn't sound (no pun intended) good. I may ask you to DM me and take this conversation offline as you clearly are better educated on this film and this issue than I am. Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of "made up" theatrical cuts unless it is truly director approved. I learned a lot from Eric Karson and Sheldon Lettich on that matter. Both "extended cuts" of those films are not director approved. And If I reach out to Pyun and find out that this version of Nemesis is not director approved, I may just seek out the original theatrical version. We'll see.

DM me when you have a moment. Maybe we can speak next week.

Are Universal titles an impossibility? MVD or Twilight Time seem like the only chances that The Cure (1995) will ever get a proper release (the DVD is cropped, if memory serves). I feel like MVD is a better shot, because this was definitely one of those "video store movies" for me. It may be a little too sentimental for some, but I have always loved it. Also, I know an HD version exists, because it pops up on cable every now and then.

I don't think I saw it up here (apologies if missed) but what about "Heaven Help Us" from 1985? Great rental/late night flick.

@ MVD Rewind Guy

Thank you for looking into Gas Pump Girls If you eventually get your hands on it please use the orignal poster art for the blu-ray cover it is Iconic. I wonder if you could get any of the girls for on-camera interviews ?? Now I'm just getting ahead of myself LOL.

Great to hear that your label wants to focus mainly on 80's and 90's films ! So many still need Blu-ray upgrades.

By the way your The Return of Swamp Thing release is awesome, very impressed ! I can't wait for Lionheart, really looking forward to watching the interview with Van Damme and of course the movie I was such a big Van Damme fan as a kid in the late 80's and early 90's and still am.

I watched Van Damme's reality show that he had few years ago and the guy really seems down to earth and humble, it must have been really cool to meet him.

I really hope that Lionheart sells well and you can do special editions of Death Warrant and Double Impact which are both awesome films and I would happily upgrade on those two as well !!!

Here is another I would love to see hit Blu-ray or even a decent DVD release. The last few DVD's were just VHS upscans and looked horrible.

Breathing Fire (Starring "Bolo" Yeung, Jonathan Ke Quan (Short Round Taekwondo Master from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), & Jerry Trimble)
