It's just...that I always had a niche for an Onkyo, and now that I can get one, it's like Christmas as a five year old all over again...ok, bad example, but you get the idea. Then I went to bestbuy the other day and saw the 1018, and it really appealled to me, but the Onkyo at about a hundred dollars more than the total price for the 1018, was still the best bet. But now that the 1019 is coming out, It seem to be a better buy. I just can't wait till April, and into May until I can get one. I NEED an reciever now or in the next two weeks. So any input is taken with lots of appreciation. And 1080p upconvert won't really be a need...maybe for cable, but I could care less...TV will always look bad to me.
And If I HAD to wait, I can do it. |

Most would say to purchase what you need, when you need it, because if you play the waiting game, you will never purchase anything, because bigger/better/cheaper is always around the corner. However waiting for new products to come to life after CES is always the best time to purchase if you must "wait". |

Jeez I can't find this receiver anywhere other than Best Buy and I refuse to pay full price at $599. It looks like I'll be getting a Sony instead.

If you can get your hands on a 1018 for a good price don't hesitate. I convinced a buddy of mine to go Blu last X-Mas ( a new memeber

I just got this receiver this weekend at Best Buy for $479. Some BB's have them but aren't on display and they have them at clearance prices. The salesman at 1 store here in Houston showed me the list of the prices at different stores and it went all the way down to $359 at one store, but they didn't have any in stock. Go to BB and tell them to look this receiver up and ask them for a price match on $399. Some people had luck with this, I didn't, but I think I still got a good deal.

I was considering waiting for the 1019 seeing as the 1018 is now too hard to find. I'd read elsewhere that the 1019 only has a preout for the sub!! This in addition to some other stuff I read would be a dealbreaker for me as far as waiting to April if in fact it is true.
would it be possible to confirm at this early stage? I ask because I may opt for either the Pio vsx-01 or vsx-03 but am also wondering about the 1019 I'd provide the link but since it is from another A/V forum I'm not sure if that might break the rules. So, I'd thought I just ask members here if they have heard anything new |

I got one on Boxing Day for $399 CDN... love it...
The box does says DTS-HDMA, so I do believe it does... I can't be 100% without looking at the manual at home, as I have a PS3 and it always says PCM and not HDMA or TrueHD... |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you choose to have the PS3 internally decode, it would pass the signal out to the receiver as PCM...
Can anyone else confirm that the 1018AH-K does internally decode all HD audio formats. The link above sure makes it seem like it does indeed... ![]() |

Yes, mine says PCM because the PS3 does the decoding... But I did want a receiver that could do the decoding for later on down the road when I get a stand alone blu ray player.... It does all the decoding as explained here:

The display on tv when setting it up is pretty ugly and old looking but imo that doesnt matter. The Dispay on the receiver is alright, could be better but Its fine. Id take pics of both but my digital camera is broke. |
