lol, there is a ton of that in them aren't there. I finally have the Oppo and TV set t Pauls settings. I'm revisiting some of my favs.

Just finished this one last night again. Always a pleasure!

Having the scope ratio blend into the darkness on the OLED makes it even more enjoyable than last time.

Hi Wally,

Got em all. Love em all. You will too. Toy Story might have the mildest 3D but that's OK.

Joe, everyone should have a region-free player especially if you'r e into 3D.

They shouldn't be too expensive. I bought mine for $350 CDN five years ago and have been using it daily ever since. Mine wasn't the bottom of the barrel either.

Joe, I got 2

I bought a cheapo for 60$ way back, and recently I got the new Oppo with regionfree mod. The cheapo paid for itself 10 times over at least by now. The oppo, will never pay for itself lol, but its worth it to me for other reasons.

Hi infinite,

At this point there are only a few titles that are not region A which I really want (Young Detective Dee Sea Dragon plus a few silent releases). Just recently put one non 3D bluray player in storage (when I got the 3D video wizard for my 2D set). Along with a few DVD players and a recorder I could open up my own used video shop.

BTW - right now am dubbing a recording from one older player via s-video. Accidentally ordered a silent Douglas Fairbanks bluray before releazing had recorded both films off TCM. It's the third silent with Baby Peggy that I'm saving which will be accompanied by the early 1929 talkie The Virginian recorded from starz westerns.

Not 3D, of course. But the old classics are also a passion.

Spider-Man: Homecoming does feel like it is so small-scale, where is with The Amazing Spider-Man films they are on a big scale, i do find the new Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming to be at times annoying IMO, he didn't ruin the movie for me at all thankfully.

To me it wasn't just about titles only outside of region A. I was getting other titles and tv shows that were region A available, but saving hundreds of dollars importing the B locked version over buying the A locked version, which made the player pay for itself. I think my first purchase was a complete TV show that was 180$ cheaper to buy the box set from UK instead of from US, so it was just a no brainer at that moment.

Watching some good 3D titles like Ratatouille and the Last Emperor, and a couple dozen other 2D movies that are only available region B locked, make it worth it in other ways, but was really only part of the equation for me. I certainly wouldn't have bought it for 2 movies.

It’s funny that you guys are talking about region free players. I should be getting mine tomorrow if there are no more delays in shipping. I payed about 205 for it at 220 electronics. I’m hoping to break her in with Metallica Through the Never in 3d and Atmos! I also have Ratatouille in 3d which I haven’t been able to enjoy as of yet, among a few other titles. I’m excited but also scared of having no boundaries.

infiniteCR,
How’s the 3d quality for The Last Emperor? I haven’t seen it in years and that sounds like a great way to revisit it.

The 3D is solid. I remember reading some criticism, but I can’t understand why. The picture is gorgeous and mesmerizing. I think some of the scenes can just be a bit shallow since there are long shots in shallow spaces at times, but it’s always unquestionably 3D. The movie is long and flawed so it’s one I have to wait for the wife to be gone for the night to sink into and the mood needs to be perfect for it. I’m waiting on another good night to watch it again. I used it to test the oppos region b playback so I’m anxious now. It’s generally not that expensive so can’t go wrong if you already have seen the movie and understand what your into.

Hi infinite,

Very good point about the less expensive B region imports paying for itself. Last Emperor is one I'd love in 3D. Saw your post about it too.

Two of those are 2D movies though so I'm not sure why they're being shared in this thread.

Probably because I bought them all at the same time. Plus, sometimes non-3D films do get mentioned here. If 3D versions of the other films were available, I'd have them too!

Ordered Last Emperor 3D from Amazon UK. Worked out cheaper than from Italy because of the lower shipping charge through a third party seller.
