Default Represent your local hip hop groups/MC's

As we all know, radio and top 40 hip POP is a stain on the genre and most of the good stuff is not very well known, or if it is not by a ride range of people...so here I would like you guys/gals to post hip hop groups or just MC's from your area that you think are really good...spread the word!

Little Brother they have that real golden age sound, biggest influences being A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul...but I think they are breaking up www.myspace.com/littlebrother

9th Wonder He began his career as the main producer for the hip hop group Little Brother, and has also worked with Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, MURS, and Destiny's Child. He left Little Brother to pursue a solo career and he has released 2 solo albums and remixed Jay Z's - Black Album and Nas - Gods Son. www.myspace.com/9thwondermusic

L.E.G.A.C.Y. His often dark lyrics are informed by his earlier experiences in life, and he cites Rakim and Big L as influences, as well as rock musicians Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain www.myspace.com/ihatelegacy

The Foreign Exchange is a hip hop duo consisting of Phonte from Little Brother and Dutch producer Nicolay. They formed the group without ever meeting in person, hence the name Foreign Exchange. http://www.theforeignexchangemusic.com/

The Away Team
is a hip hop duo consisting of MC Sean Boog and producer Khrysis, both of whom are members of the North Carolina rap collective the Justus League.www.myspace.com/theawayteamhoj

Jozeemo Pretty much the only local hardcore/gangsta rapper I listen to. He is the lesser of all the others but still better than anything you will hear on the radio. www.myspace.com/jozeemo

I am close friends with and play poker with on occasion, Abstract Rude. He introduced me to Ken Can Cook, and Acyalone.

I want to meet Bus Driver.

i don't have any local hip hop/mc's around. it's all crappy pop and stuff. oh well. it doesn't matter as i really don't like the genre much with the exception of some old school hip hop. artists like l.l. cool j. and the beastie boys. i also like mos def and the roots, but they're not old school.

Black Star is a hip hop group formed by MCs Mos Def and Talib Kweli, they only have one album which is self titled...but its amazing. Talib Kweli's solo stuff is great too, one day I hope they get back together and do another album.

Never heard of them but i did like a group called Gangstar, though you were probably ten years old when they were kicking it. I still 9 times out of ten rather listen to rap from the 90's then any of the crud that is released in todays hip hop world.

Love me some Gang Starr, Daily Operation is such a sick album, and the newest one The Ownerz is really really good as well.

It's funny how everyone that is new to real hip hop always ends up ridin Premier's ****. He's good but not that good.

Best producer is Dan the Automator.

Still my fav. rapper is without question Busta, love how his lyrics just flow from one verse to the next. The guy is insane to see live.

Would love to see Busta live, but my favorite performance I have seen was by Nas, then a close 2nd being A Tribe Called Quest

He's lost it though. He'll never go back to the Tribe and Dangerous days. It's funny how in EVERY SINGLE video he ever made, there's FLIPMODE!!!

I remember back in the 90's there was a housey mix that used samples of Busta saying "Probable Impact" and "Pants are saggin!"

What I hated was Common's last album. It was HORRIBLE. Q-Tip wasn't bad though.
