My buddy from High school plays on the Houston Dynamo and he played in the past Olympics. Pretty crazy to see your friend play on TV like that.

As for EPL... Liverpool!!!!! ( I have to , owner owns the Canadiens as well )

Default Kaka to Manchester City??

This would be insane! Deal seemed off yesterday, but very much back on today with Man City's boss saying the deal was "very close" and Mark Hughes has said "negotiations are taking place".... £100 million!!!

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...796697,00.html

Do you think this in ridiculous spending? Or if a club can afford it, why not?

I'm a Villa fan, and am worried that there doesnt even seem to be rumours about who we might get during this transfer window!

Not too sure how I feel about it.

My club, Liverpool, have obviously "benefitted" from foreign investment, however I don't think that at any point they were stepping into the arena of this style of fantasy football. Ultimately if Man City have the resources, I am in favor of them being allowed to do what they want with it. There are certainly no regulations to prevent it, however the policy of "buying a dynasty" has fundimental flaws in my opinion.

The fee does seem obscene, but the current record fee, 46M quid, is almost eight years old now, so maybe it is just part of the natural progression in transfer fees.

I don't think Mark Hughes is the man for the job at City, regardless of who they bring in, and I think he is probably just warming the seat until the man with the money can find a fantasy manger too.

I agree with you that Hughes is not the man to bring City forward.. They had quite a poor spell before and during Christmas, during which I was sursprised he didn't lose his job.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. It will be very exciting for the premier league if City pull it off

Hilarious maybe, but a huge possibility! Man City fans will certainly be laughing if it happens! AC Milan will be laughing all the way to the bank! Other premier league teams certainly will not be laughing..

Cant say I'd mind being able to watch him in the PL, tho i'd much rather it was at Chelsea

It's a rediculous price they are talking about and 2 million a month in wages?
Tax him and our natinoal debt will be gone in no time!

You got it Big Dog, I was referring to what "kaka" means in the US, did not mean to make light of your thread, OP, sorry 'bout that.

He was on the Brazilian national team correct? I just remember hearing his name back in the last world cup, but do remember him being one of the better players in the world at the time.

I would love to see kaka in the premier league. I think he was voted "foreign player most people want to see in the premier league" on the premier league website a few months back, or was that messi?.

Anyways i believe hughes wont last long, they will have in place a world recognised manager. say a champions league winner or even world cup winning manager. They will buy a load of players for rediculus prices, world superstars and they will want a manager who can handle all the super egos.

If they do get kaka it will be interesting to see if he can handle the speed and physical aspects of the PL or end up back in italy???

I don't think it's gonna happen, but if for some reason Berlusconi says yes (I mean who can say no to £100 million???) and Kaka doesn't want to go? What happens next? I guess we'll have to wait and see. If he comes one thing for sure, the Manchester derby will be more special.

Do they have a salary type cap or restriction to how much teams can spend, or do the teams like Man U basically pull a Yankee's and buy the best talent up on everyone?
