Their TLW video score is lower than JP loooool
This site is a joke. It's not even close to being a new scan, even 2K. They did go back to the source of BD. Last edited by Mierzwiak; 05-28-2018 at 05:51 PM. |

![]() Honestly, the set is cheap enough that I wouldn't be at all bothered by having to double dip for a superior JP 4K experience in a year or two if it becomes available. |

Remember me saying that JP3 had black crush? Here you go, look at the interior of the plane on the left and note that whatever detail is left looks posterised and odd: http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&a...117138&i=2&l=0
Extrapolate that across several other scenes in the movie - which aren't in the capsaholic comparison, unforunately - and that's why I rag on it like I do. In terms of what they've done to roll off the grain it literally looks like it's been Nolan'ed, the grain is so indistinct and the detail is so soft. Bleurgh. At least the Nolan UHDs had the excuse of being Nolan'ed but JP3 has no such crutch, it's been fudged big time for no apparent reason other than Universal gotta Universal. |

It's only fifty bucks for 8 discs. And we get that Vudu stuff bonus, 4K digital downloads. ...Ultraviolet for Eskimos.
The only missing discs are the 3D ones for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, that's all. Here we have four brand new 4K transfers in one T-Rex package with elevated dts:X audio. Just that is worth $50 ... no? Five years from now we'll have six JP movies, in 8K. ...And four of them in 3D, from the UK. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 05-28-2018 at 06:36 PM. |

Plus you get a movie ticket for the next JP flick, a $15 value! Is it for the 3D IMAX presentation?

I'll keep the $50 and spend it on something else.

I think that’s a bit harsh. ‘Trash’ isn’t the word I’d use at all, even if it could have been better.

I watched JP1 the other night and found it to be a nice upgrade over the old blu. Last I watched the blu I felt the colors were very washed out. But here they are nice and bold.
Moved on to The Lost World last night and wow that film sure got an upgrade! A childhood favorite of mine (guilty pleasure I guess lol) I very much enjoyed watching it again. For now I’m happy with what we have regarding JP1. I feel there’s only so much you can do when the CGI is finished in 1K. They’d have to rework all of it to ever truly have a groundbreaking “new” transfer. |

That too is a very fair option, in particular if you have already the full Quad on Blu, the great last package before this one, that includes JP in 3D, and also JW in 3D. ...A six-disc BD set.
It demands some consideration, some financial thinking, some fan addiction, some impulsive purchases, some lottery winners, some love @ the movies with T-Rex roar higher elevation. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 05-28-2018 at 08:14 PM. |

Jurassic Park's CGI looks fantastic on 35mm. I don't see how it couldn't on UHD. Some studios just need to get rid of this mindset that films should look neutral and that darker scenes should be overexposed to the point that you can see every tiny pebble on the ground.
The reason the CGI holds up so well on 35mm is because the warm golden push helped blend the dinosaurs into the background during the daytime scenes and the darkness during the night scenes helped cover up any shortcomings. Universal should have gotten a clue and used a reference print when creating the UHD master, perhaps even consulted Dean Cundey. This is just embarrassing and shows why the use of reference prints should be the standard provided they still exist. |
