I'd love to have one of those Jurassic World Hamster Ball-ish vehicles. I'd totally convert it into a couch.

Last time I checked, The Lost World and JP3 weren't that well regarded as sequels go.
I understand where you are coming from. IMO, it makes sense for the events in San Diego to at least be referenced if they are in fact still canon. I just imagine that if 21 years ago some scientist created a dinosaur that wreaked havoc on a city, a group trying to protect them would face backlash in 2018 from people who remember the event, or even experienced it, using it as a main focus as to why they shouldn't be saved. I'm sure the main anti-point will be the events of JW, with Malcolm bookending it with his experience in 1993.

Yeah, the movie can succeed without ever mentioning Sorna/San Diego, much like JW did, but it could easily fit in the narrative without feeling forced.

Do you guys not find it bothersome that you'll be watching a movie on IMAX screens but it won't fill that screen? I mean I find it disappointing that the top and bottom of the screen remains unoccupied throughout the entire duration of the movie.
It's not an immersive experience, unless you're watching it on a purpose-built 15/70 screen. All multiplex IMAX screens are just the same scope screens with added height.
It makes sense in such a situation to save money and watch it on a regular scope screen.

I still find it baffling how Masrani got construction approved for Jurassic World considering past events when it came to dinosaurs. Also surprised there were no protestors at the park wanting to shut it down.

I've never watched a movie in IMAX. I have no intention to ever do that, either. I'm a stubborn guy, and like what I like. Good old fashioned 2D. I'll occasionally treat myself to a 3D showing, but I mostly prefer 2D.

trick is to sit a few row's closer, then the height isnt too obvious.
but it does bug me.

if I had to pay full price for IMAX tickets I wouldnt go as often. But for £6, anytime, I dont mind cropped images.
plus to be fair, if its that much of an issue, I can always go to the IMAX in Broad Street which is much wider (when they screened Avengers one and IW, its still cut short at the top/bottom)

What about IMAX 15-perf 70mm in full 1.43:1 eight-storey tall 2D? That's the platinum standard of 2D. I watched TDKR in 15/70 IMAX and two Imax documentaries. They were incredible experiences!

Nope. Just plain old 2D for me.

It's just sad that IMAX doesn't have a standard anymore. People going in such theatres, expecting to see an IMAX aspect ratio movie from Chris Nolan or Marvel, will be disappointed.

I think the biggest surprise of the year would be if this was actually, genuinely good and delivered the horror of the original and TLW. Nothing has matched the T Rex sequences from those films.

I think the bird cage scene from JP3 was quite scary and atmospheric as those scenes. It had a different flavour but that bird emerging from the fog was quite horrifying. Another intense sequence from JP3 was the way the raptors ambushed and stalked the characters, resulting in Udeski's head-snapping.

The Rex scenes in JP2 is very scary, but it plays very similar to its JP counterpart. The shot sequencing feels the same. It's more like an extended version of the JP Rex attack. Very well done obviously.
