Game of Thrones on 4k looks excellent, and looks like it was going be reference the entire way. However on the 3rd disc, episode 7 the image takes a turn for the worst. The image has blockiness and suffers from scaling issues. Imagine bad anti aliasing, and its like this for the entire episode. The intro looks terrible with the words becoming blocky, and again poor scaling.
The broach on Ned Starcks clothing is so, so, bad.

Episode 8 and 9 are fine, its just episode 7 that looks terrible. Disc 3 needs to be repressed because this is a real let down.

The audio is excellent, the picture is excellent but is marred by disc 3 episode 7.

A great disappointment.

EDIT - Just finished watching the entire season, and ep10 (episode 10 is also suffering from stair stepping, antialiasing, and scaling issues. One thing Im not sure about yet though is whether its just in certain scenes, but I believe its in the entire episide, but certain shot just don't reveal the issue.

HBO must recall this collection for GAME OF THRONES SEASON ONE ON 4K ULTRA HD BLU-RAY

This quality control is unacceptable.
You already just posted this on the previous page ? Anyway, I would like to know on which tv you watched this, as set-ups are so important with UHD.

I have an ISF calibrated Vizio P75C1 with an Oppo 203 4k UHD player. All other episodes are perfectly fine.

Episode 2. HDR image converted to SDR through MadVR at 200 nits with 0% luminance reduction and 100% saturation.

Sansa Stark and Joffrey Baratheon

I think I'm going to wait until the complete series releases. Then I'll buy it and put the discs into my Best Buy sigil digipaks.

Well, that settles that then. I won't be spending money on this set. This is exactly the type of disc release that supports the 4K detractors' notions.

Gracias. It should be obvious that the raw conversion is nuking the highlights something chronic.

The detractors' notions that these discs occasionally have error issues like those of... every other consumer disc format that's ever seen a retail shelf?

The blus already look great and it actually looks like you lose some detail with this(at least from the screen caps of the title sequence). Odd.

Kind of a pointless thing to say, jumping into a discussion about the poor quality of new disc release. No one "needs to get educated about unrealistic expectations" in regards to a crappy new set of 4K discs. Publishers need to do a better job than this.

Here I am talking about the disc for once, and still get criticism from the likes of you.

You were describing detractors using this as ammunition to generalize about the format and I'm just saying that if anyone is doing that, they need to understand that every format is just like this- occasionally, there'll be a bum disc.

What's giving you the impression that I'm criticizing you in any way?

Which may never come. ESPECIALLY if not enough people buy this release.

While some obsess over pixels and static images i just popped my UK disc in to see with my own eyes and think it looks absolutely stunning!

Tried Episode 7. Nothing wrong here. The detail in Tywin's leather outfit and Ned talking to Cersei in the gardens! Just WOW.

Anyone who thinks this isn't an upgrade from Blu needs their eyes testing.

Detail is what it is with 1080p, but there's some nice improvement in grain retention thanks to the compression. Curious to see some caps from episode 7 or 10, sounds like an upscale gone horribly wrong.

Have only seen one episode and would love to watch in UHD for the first time, but there's just no way I'm paying that kind of price for single seasons at this point. If the complete UHD set ends up no more than twice the price of the BD set (and they fix any potentially broken discs) I'll get it.

Everyone: ‘I’m going to wait for the full series set.’
HBO: ‘Well no one is buying the first season so let’s put a hold on the rest.’

It's an impossible situation but HBO has a lot more money than I do so I have no issues with letting them carry the costs until it's all done.

I wouldn't expect them to expect to sell all that many of these anyway. It just takes a good amount of time to grade, master and author the discs, so my guess is that they're starting now in order to have everything ready for when the show finally ends; and if they can catch a few overpaying fans along the way then why not release it immediately.

Wake me up when the entire series is available. What’s the point of season 1 being released by itself? Ugh.
