Is this a real 4k release? Did they re-render this in 4k? The computers Pixar have now can easily render this movie in 4k. This was the Pixar movie I most wanted to see in 4K. It's old enough that they can realistically render it but it's not too told that it wouldn't benefit from the higher resolution.

Yeah I wouldn’t worry on this one anymore. I don’t even have the volume to high and lots of effects are coming through. Lots of panning objects. It’s actually amazing. I’m 62 minutes in right now and I don’t have a single complaint. If only SW TLJ, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, etc... were only mixed this well. |

So just got done watching it. Two scenes were lacking sound wise, the missile attack scene and the RV landing scene. And they weren’t too bad they just emphasized dialogue over action a little to much but still had some panning effects but did tone the bass down a tad too in those scenes.
The score comes through amazingly, the Atmos sound stage gives it extra impact. And the bass is definitely not gimped there. The majority of action sequences had amazing audio and panning effects, plenty of booms, rumbles and impacts. Visually this 2K DI upscale is stunning. I was in fourth grade when I saw the movie on film so it’s hard for me to remember visual clarity details. But I compared with a 1080p digital copy and holy crap. There are textures there that I never saw before. Fabrics have loads more details.in explosions there’s you can see shreds of whatever exploded. Environments look amazing, foliage looks like it took a long time to design. HDR wise thers a lot of color in tropical environments and the color from sunsets is gorgeous. I would also say that they put HDR to work during the opening, much more color detail there that shows off how flashy the suits were back in the day. However they bumped the gamma in some dark shots so we could see them which more of a fault at the original rendering of the film than it is of this edit. Overall: 9/10 Video: 10/10 HDR (HDR10): 9/10 Audio (Dolby Atmos): 8/10 |

![]() Always a generous guy, Brass Tax. _____ Here @ blu-ray.com ... Coco in 4K got a 3.5 as well (The Incredibles) for video. Animation flicks are best in 3D than 4K. And Coco 4K got a 4.0 for audio. That's just too bad...The Incredibles is not the incredible 4K Blu I wanted. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 06-07-2018 at 04:15 AM. Reason: Blu |

Jeez, where to start. I disagree strongly with this sites 4K review. I just finished watching this on an Oppo 203 through a Denon 4300 to an LG 65B6 OLED. I've watched the BR disc of The Incredibles many times. The BR is a great looking disc, and this 4K disc poops all over it for PQ. Detail/fine detail is superior to the BR disc throughout. The WCG and HDR simply take the 4K disc to a whole other level compared to the BR. The colors, my God the colors! It's that good. I was enthralled by the PQ the entire time. Staggeringly good. As for the AQ, I did some comparing between the Atmos and original DTS HD + Neural X tracks. To my surprise, I actually prefer the Atmos track. The caveat being you need to raise the Master Volume approx. 8-10 db on the Atmos track to have a level comparable to the DTS HD track. Didn't use a meter, just went by ear. Some LFE moments were, in fact, more pronounced on the DTS HD track. While other LFE moments, the Atmos track was comparable and sounded wonderful! It's the discreet sounds of the Atmos track that give it the edge for me. It simply seems more 'full' and alive. Again, with my setup, you must raise the MV by 8-10 db, otherwise, the Atmos track sounds anemic. What I really would like to know is why Disney's Atmos tracks have such low master volume vs. other studios Atmos tracks that seem to fall in line with where I normally have my Master Volume set at, -12 to -15 db. I have no regrets with my BB Steelbook. Cheers...

If you read Martins review and ignore the score, it's not a bad take on the differences in the PQ department.
With that said I disagree with his take on the expanded colors as I found more then several sections and moments where the expanded colors made a very noticable upgrade. The BD definitely now looks a bit cool and pale in comparison. |

Glad I haven't opened my UHD yet, considering a return to BB... may wait for Bill Hunt's take as well, but I absolutely will not give Disney premium $ for a sub-premium product.
