So we had two big franchises relaunched in 2015 with great success (Jurassic Park and Star Wars) with Jurassic World and The Force Awakens but it seems the sequels have divided the fan bases. While Jurassic World and The Force Awakes were built mostly on nostalgia, The Last Jedi and Fallen Kingdom both have tried to move the franchise in a different direction which may or may not come full circle when both trilogies are finished. For me personally I'm more optimistic to where Jurassic world 3 will lead after what Fallen Kingdom's ending has setup.

Overall Fallen Kingdom isn't perfect but it moved the ideology of the original plan of Hammond to have these species seen as fascinating creatures that were once extinct being able to live among us again. Then there are those who see these dinosaurs as opportunities to profit and militarize for their own benefits. I'm curious to see how this all unfolds in the next chapter.

I think the central character in this trilogy is Blue. I liked how they showed her being trained by Owen as a baby raptor. It reminded me of Caesar in the first Plant of the Apes. Lets hope there's no talking raptor in the next one (I'm looking at you JP3 ).

Rankings:

Jurassic Park : 9.0
Jurassic world: 7.5
Fallen Kingdom: 7.0
Lost World: 6.5
Jurassic Park 3: 6.0

I like them all just like the Terminator movies (except Salvation - No Arnold = No True Terminator movie). Wish I could say the same for other movie franchises.

They didn’t have to make it political. And they never explain how Clair suddenly cared about the dinosaurs. They was just assets to her 3 years ago.

Man I hated this film. So many bad character choices, logic issues and straight nonsensical activity. The characters were somehow unlikeable, there was no functioning humor and not a single worthwhile set piece. I wanted so much more out of this. Even the 3D was weak. Damn, missed opportunity.

I enjoyed it, but the second half could have been better.

While Blue was clearly the focus of this movie she can’t be in the third cause her blood is no longer pure since the mixed Trex blood with her so she’s useless to those who are trying to militarize them cause like WU said her and her blood is the key to it all. And like I said in post back that in order for this all to come full circle they have to bring DR.Grant and Malcolm in full roles and still keep Owen since he is the one that showed people that dinosaurs can follow orders. And honestly it’s getting old that a raptors even as smart as Blue can beat 2 hybrids specially when this hybrid raptor a lot smarter and bigger.

It was at this moment in JW that Claire realized that these are not just assets, but living creatures. I don't think it's a stretch to think that this moment may have changed Claire's entire perspective and feelings of dinosaurs, especially over the course of three years.

The character of Franklin was godawful.

This movie would have been so much better served by having Chris Pratt take the lead with the comedic moments, since Pratt has always excelled at such things, instead of introducing a completely unnecessary additional character to serve as comic relief.

Instead, Pratt was underused, and Franklin was the shrieking attempt at levity.

Even so, Pratt has gotten hate for this for being Starlord again. I guess I watched a different movie. I think he only had 1 comedic line after arriving at the island.

I actually like how more serious Pratt's character is in this.

I didn't want the excess Pratt tone of Star-Lord in this. I thought he had his subtle but funny moments. Like pretending to go back to sleep when Claire woke up.

Here's what I really really want from the Jurassic Park franchise...

I want a reboot of the first film that is rated R and completely faithful to the Michael Crichton source novel.

In the Crichton novel, John Hammond is a twisted sociopathic version of Walt Disney, and he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his grandchildren for the sake of his precious theme park. In the Spielberg film and the sequels, Hammond is simply a bearded benevolent Santa Claus figure.

In this reboot that is faithful to the Crichton novel, John Hammond should be played by Timothy Dalton. (I would say Christopher Plummer, but Plummer is probably too old at this point.)

The superb suspense teaser of the opening chapter from the book should be the opening scene of a Jurassic Park reboot.

This reboot should also have the sequence from the novel where the characters are hiding behind a waterfall from the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
