I loved it

Would need to see it again to confirm but I might have liked it more than Jurassic World (which was one of my favorite movies of 2015). They succeeded in giving us a little kid that was not annoying for once in the series.

The T-Rex/Raptor tag team fight from Jurassic World is still my favorite individual sequence in the entire series though (and one of my favorites in movies in general).

I've never had the love and admiration that most have for the original as a whole but some parts are of course very iconic; it is a good movie but somewhat dull for a good bit of it. Maybe because Sam Neill is not the best leading man to get attached to. Jurassic World and now Fallen Kingdom are the only ones of the series I would rewatch many times. II and III are best left out of the conversation in my opinion.

I thought the first two thirds were promising, but then it fizzles. I kept expecting the plot to advance towards something more than just callous capitalists and running away from carnivores. I thought the girl or Cromwell's character would have a deeper connection to John Hammond; I thought Dr. Henry Wu would actually have something to do this time; I thought the reveal about the girl would amount to something, either plot-wise or thematically. I thought wrong. Even Owen and Claire felt like afterthoughts this time.

It's reasonably fun, there are some cool shots, the VFX were surprisingly solid, but it all felt a little hollow.

So I posted this July 2015, after the first movie came out. I know Fallen Kingdom is different, but I was reminded of my idea while watching it. They actually did do some of the things I wanted to see, which is crazy

With that in mind, I want a story where the new heads of InGen decide that they are done with Isla Nublar, and plan to exterminate all living creatures on the island. I want to see it from the perspective of these innocent dinosaurs as the humans that created them come in and take them down.

In such a movie, there will be a human fight with some people for this idea, and many others against it. There will be protests, and huge news coverage, as questions are raised of whether these genetically created animals have rights, and should be allowed to live out their lives in isolation of human control, etc..

I think it would be great to see a grown-up Tim and Lex Murphy come back as the rightful heirs to the Hammond foundation, and they be the leaders of the movement to preserve the island vs Ingen.

Isla Nublar will look like a war torn country, with some victories for the dinosaurs, but more for the humans. In the end, we do see Isla Nublar essentially burn to the ground, but we also see signs that "life finds a way" . We see the Mosasaurus. swim away into the Atlantic. There will also be a scene (perhaps post-credit) where they show Site B, and how Henry Wu has had a facility deep underground. The movie cuts to a close-up of him where he says "Phase Two is Now Ready". and then the film ends

I have no idea what I'd call it, but perhaps Jurassic Park: Extinction Level Event

Of all the special effects in this movie, the absolute scariest was Bryce Dallas Howard's upper lip which looked botoxed to ****. It's like they punched her in the mouth before each scene.

Despite my low expectations after all the bad reviews, I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie.

I'll definitely be adding it to my "Jurassic Park Canon". I'll watch Jurassic Park and then skip to Jurassic World and then Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

I think Bayona is more talented than Trevorrow and did a better job overall but had a weaker plot to work with. Additionally, it didn't help that the trailers for this movie revealed almost all the surprises or shocking sequences in the movie.

But Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard are great together, the SFX are great and the director does well with the camera angles and action sequences.

It would have been better not to have the second half set where it is, but the director does as well as can be expected and despite the weaker plot, I think he did a better job with what he had.

Solid, enjoyable summer movie for me.

I only just now realized why.
[Show spoiler]A Brachiosaurus was the first dinosaur we all saw on Isla Nublar, and now, it's also going to be the last.

Something doesn't have to be wrong with people just because they don't like every blockbuster that comes out. You won't spontaneously combust if you think one isn't good every once in a while.

Great quote. Very apt to generally describe online hatedom, excuse me, fandom, but I wouldn't apply it in this case.

Save for the brief Brachiosaur scene, "wonder" is an ingredient I found to be sorely lacking in this movie. Hammond's original park was indeed wonderful and fantastic; Fallen Kingdom sure as hell ain't.
