It worked, and I paid 84 cents to get a ~$14 ticket. Not bad!

Evening, folks -
Is anybody having issues with the audio of Jurassic World? For some reason, I'm not getting any low end, any bass at all, out of by subwoofer during the 4K of Jurassic World. It's an isolated case, the only movie, and my sub certainly works fine for everything else. For that matter, the audio also feels a little weaker than the Blu-ray, I tried both one after the other - but maybe it's the lack of bass. I'm not sure what it could be, since the sub works fine at all other times, and it worked fine with the JW bluray. Quote:
EDIT: If everyone else is getting bass/low end during the Indominus Rex escape (i.e., its footsteps, when it breaks through the gate, etc) - then something MUST be wrong with my disc. Last edited by JJ; 06-23-2018 at 11:29 AM. |

It appears that the 4k version of Jurassic world does suffer from lack of bass unfortunately. I have a vtf-15h mk1 and the Blu Ray version thunders through my whole room while the 4k version it seems like nothing is there. Im surprised that some people here said the audio is 10/10. I feel jp3 suffers a little bit of this issue too but not to the extent of Jurassic world. It really is a shame cause the 4k is a nice upgrade on the video department but honestly the Blu Ray still looks great so I'll be sticking with that untill they fix this issue. |

But I'll definitely be sticking with the Bluray because the audio is really lacking on the 4K. Yeah, but, there isn't >ANY< on the 4K to me. As in, my SVS' driver doesn't even move a millimeter during a footstep of a dinosaur. It SHOULD, you know? It does in the bluray. |

...And with the film's grain intact.
___ By the way, say you just want to buy the first and last one...why not just buy this 4K set for only $50 because two single titles on sale would cost roughly $40. So you get two extra 4K movies for only $5 each. Or, you could wait till they release the six films together on 4K in a single package, with the three first ones remastered from newer and better prints. ...That'll be the day. |

Would make a lot more sense to release a JP Trilogy Boxset now and then release a JW Trilogy Boxset after the next one.

I've bought the Jurassic World 4K Steelbook and will buy The Lost World 4K Steelbook. They've been given the appropriate treatment and I'll pay for it.
I'll get the Jurassic Park & Jurassic Park III Steelbooks secondhand when I see a good deal on 'em. I'm not giving the studios my money directly for those as they've not been afforded the appropriate effort. They're flagship catalog titles and they're deserving of more respect; as are the eagle-eyed, double, triple and quadruple (etc.) dippers who have supported these releases over the years. There's no doubting they appear to be a vast improvement over the Blu-rays in most shots but improving massively on something abysmal and still arriving at something needlessly flawed and barely adequate isn't good enough. Minus the 4K bells and whistles, the fundamental image we got here should have been what we got on Blu-ray in the first place; and that's before we even get to the contentious issue of faithful colour timing/grading. Quote:
The grain is not obscuring the image; for all intent purposes, the grain effectively is the image. It's perfectly fine if you have a personal preference for a clean image but this is just the nature of film and to remove grain at the source is to degrade the image; and that goes against the ethos of pretty much anyone who's reasonably well versed in the subject and who cares for faithful representation of the content. Is there any info if the films will be released individually when the next one comes out in 4K? I just want the first one, the rest are trash.

Early word (according to Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits) is that "Fallen Kingdom" will street on 9/18. So, individual titles may be released at the same time. Similar to "The Mummy" (2017) with Tom Cruise. When that hit blu-ray, "The Mummy Trilogy" got individual releases the same day.

Jurassic World is the prettiest 4K of them all, and it also comes in a separate 3D Blu-ray version, quite immersive I might say. ...And the second best of Jurassic flicks, IMO. 3D cheers, |

Just watched the first JP on 4K UHD and I'll echo the opinion that it is significantly better but not perfect. I tested an older 1080p version afterwards and WOW is it horrendous in every way... I mean I sort of thought that before but now it's completely unwatchable.

Excuse this bunch of cobbled together posts, been skimming my way through a load of threads I missed out on; as I've been outta the loop for a while..
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I really, really like JP3 (the film, not the transfer..). ![]() On another note, when a director with as much clout as Spielberg has a film put out on home video, I struggle to see how they can be ok with such poor representations of their work. If it was me and I had that influence I'd be fuming. If I absolutely had to and had the means I'd pay for the proper work to be done myself. With the technical capabilities we have now, it's not just about releasing a product or even a definitive product, it's a matter of presenting it as itended and a means of mass-archival. Paramount, Sony & even Warner treat Spielberg's work with far greater reverence. I'm amazed we got E.T. & Jaws in as good a shape as we did with them being Universal titles. Well, one can dream: [Show spoiler] ![]() --- Quote:

It looks like they've gone through a lot of effort to make it look sub-par, in reality it's probably just a lazy cash grab derived from a bog-standard 2K scan with a slathering of filtering and no regard for the correct colour timing. It's great that you can enjoy the movie and I'll likely enjoy the movie in and of itself. But the lack of care shown by Universal is such a downer. --- Quote:
You really know they've fudged it when magazine scans look better. --- Quote:
