Also, if "most of them" will be released at a con, it stands to reason that they aren't a single box set.

I'd argue that that bit of info does support them being a box set. 8 covers by one artist all being announced at Comic Con? That sure points to a collection or two to me. Normally an artist may have 8 covers announced over several months of releases, not all at once.

If it's not a Nightmare set (please be a Nightmare set) I could see it being for Critters, Sorority House Massacre/Hard to Die, Candyman, etc.

EDIT: Upon further thought I'm inclined to believe that Night of the Living Dead 1990 will be one of the 8 announced.

Apparently, Scream/ Shout have promised that this fall's upcoming announcements will "make your heads explode" and that "jaws will drop". I hope they DON'T mean a bunch of double dips of movies already out on perfectly good blu's (though I admit I wouldn't turn down a Scream CE of "Creepshow" or "An American Werewolf in London").

But, IF they want my jaded head to explode or my weary jaw to drop, they'd have to be talking about some really sought after, really elusive stuff.

Like on the order of "The Devils" or "Martin" or "Alligator" or the original "Dawn" or things like that. I'd love "Cruising", and I'm not sure if that would be Scream or Select, it could go either way.

For me, personally, I'd still love a blu of Oliver Stone's "The Hand".

Dark Force Entertainment will be releasing it and the sequel, Raven Dance at some point.

I’d hope Criterion gets The Devils above Scream.

I'd be up for Creepshow CE (the BD is bareboned), The Hand, or whatever to improve on a couple of disappointing announcements from september despite there is a few in september i'm actually looking foward to and actually be worth a damn like Saturday The 14th for example which has it's fans and i can get rid of my old DVD.

One thing I'd love for them to do is put out a Stephen King Collection that would include all films based on King's stories (at least through the 80s, maybe more), in new special editions with King's involvement -- interviews, commentaries, etc.

Carrie, Salem's Lot, Dead Zone, The Shining, Creepshow, Cat's Eye, Firestarter, Christine, Stand by Me, Cujo, Children of the Corn, Silver Bullet, Maximum Overdrive, Pet Sematary.

I don't know if it would he possible, or if would be something he would want to do, but it would be a fascinating project to do, and King is the only author I can think of who has such a deep filmography of original and adapted films under his belt.

I may be drawing a blank, but I don't think they've ever done more than a couple commissioned pieces of art for a single release / set. I'd be surprised to see them set aside that much of their budget towards new artwork, even for a major franchise.

Joel Robinson has been getting a lot of assignments from them over the last few years, seemingly more than any other artists, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him working on eight separate commissions from them.

He had a SF style print of The Lost Boys but it was for sale before the Warner deal, could probably still be used? Anyways I think the best chance is him doing Candyman since he did art for Lord of Illusions and Nightbreed. I’m hoping for a Dr. Giggles and Alligator CE

I agree that 8 covers all being announced together would point to Nightmare, but he didn't say "all", he said "most". And he already knows what the movies are that he is drawing, so if he speculates that the 8 films won't be announced together, it seems reasonable to assume that the 8 films are not a single release.

If it is the Nightmare set the artwork is for. Probably will be a box set similar to Halloween each film having its on case in a box. Maybe a booklet with art to. Even then tho think some of the artwork will be for some individual titles.

No need for hope - it really was announced.

You guys know there are OTHER threads on these forums where they also announce horror movies, right?

Yes, Scream Factory (and also Shout Select) have made big promises for the remainder of the year, as well as going in to next year. They responded to me saying they have TONS of awesome titles coming, non-stop, well into February and beyond. I imagine it will be a mix of long fan-requested titles, some popular double dips, and hopefully some more obscure first-time-to-Blu gems. What they've released so far up to September has just been enough to keep their momentum going; nothing more. It's like they're tossing small pieces of bait right now; they've still yet to show their hand on the great stuff, which I assume will start coming at the end of the week. They wouldn't be making big promises if they couldn't back them up; there would be too much of a backlash, and they don't want to deal with hundreds of angry emails, I'm sure. I have most of the preorders I want locked in through September; now I'm ready for the big guns. I'm sure we're all going to be satisfied with the lineup, more or less.

Good point; if you're new to the forums, or new to collecting in general, be sure to watch/follow Code Red, Dark Force, Kino Lorber, Severin, Synapse, Vestron, MVD Rewind, Arrow, Unearthed, Blue Underground, Warner Archive, Criterion, Twilight Time, and others if you want to be current with future titles/announcements/releases. Scream Factory is the first label to attract new collectors, but keep in mind they are not the only ones releasing great movies. Scream Factory should be your gateway to other, greater labels. I'm not discrediting SF at all--they've revolutionized physical media collecting these last few years in the United States--but there are others doing great work, too.

Those guys aren't new - they post here all the time. The first poster is always asking for stuff that's either already announced or controlled by studios that don't license. Expand your horizons, guys. Burst that bubble

Definitely not Scream releases but within the Shout line, there are a few animated movies I'd like to see released that would fit their profile. The Hobbit, Care Bears movie and Tom and Jerry movie. Warner, MGM? and not sure about the third.
