I wonder if Aladdin will be re-released before the live action film comes out next year?

It didn't come with a digital copy (it was mentioned on the site but I figured the guy already used it). It has a blue 'blu ray and dvd' frame

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aladdin-Blu...72.m2749.l2649

also on the boarder, the 'disney blu ray' label is weirdly placed and bigger than the usual. (placed next to the Dalmatians blu ray for scale, which came out at the same time)

My question is: Did I buy a bootleg, or is this from another country?

Could you blu ray myth busters help me?

The blu ray works fine and the picture and everything doesn't seem to change, the only difference is that at the very beginning of my playing the disc, it says: can't connect to internet at this time.
It's most definitely a bootleg. Up to you what you'll want to do. I had a similar experience with a "How to Train your Dragon" DVD. The slipcover is the giveaway. The way it wraps around the entire case but just looks "authentic" enough.

Granted the disc was fine but still.

Check out the official BD's cover:

1)The "Blu-ray + DVD" border should have had "+Digital HD" as well,
2) The official slipcover has a holographic effect.
But just to be certain, I would suggest that you look the disc art and compare it to the official BD's disc art, which you can find on the internet & check the menu of the disc!

This has happened to me before and the disc did not last long......sigh... oh well.

I'll wait till the signature release then I guess, and see if I can get a refund.

Thanks!

I'm terrible with predictions and at this point I have no idea, I'm not even sure which one is next (Cinderella or Fantasia, ....maybe?).

But My guess is that Aladdin will come out next year because they tend to release these guys right around the live action remakes.

But then again they released Lion King way before the live action remake and I hear some rumors that Dumbo is being released this Feb, which ain't happening. So..... No idea.

They're not going to rerelease Aladdin anytime soon. It was just vaulted in the fall (the most recent to be vaulted actually), and Disney is pretty good about keeping vault titles locked up until they come around again.

Yea but since they're releasing these things 3 times a year now all of the vault movies should be out by 2020.
The one that has been in the vault the longest at this point is Fantasia (if you count that as a vault movie), after that, I believe it was Sleeping Beauty, which went back in in 2016, all of the others went back in 2017 (by a couple months apart). So i'm pretty sure the 5 year minimum thing is out the window now.

So if it's out the window, I'd figure they would release the film right around the remake. If not next year it's going to be the year after for sure. Either way. Your not wrong but it's not like it's going to be another 5 years.

The only way I can imagine them stretching it is if they add more movies to the line up but that 'aint happening.

Can someone explain the whole "Vaulting" situation with Disney movies? Why do they do this, just to be jerks and drive up demand?

It USED to be about recycling them in theaters, but then home video happened. Then it was about the next biggest thing. "You saw it in theaters, now own it on beta max!", Betamax-shmetamax! VHS is where it's at!" etc etc. When there's no new format to hang it on, it's all about adding random bonus features or digital copy or sometimes a better remaster.

In this day and age though, there is no point in vaulting them anymore. When it was theaters it was a way to introduce a new generation to the films but now everybody owns them or can stream them, not to mention the Disney streaming coming soon. What are they going to do, not let people watch a movie for a few years?

It's like the McRib. If it's available all the time, there is no reason to buy it. If they don't always sell it, you will snap it up while you can. However, Disney may be changing on that since no signature titles have gone back in the vault even though some have been out for years now.

Pretty much. However in this case you could always just import the region-free UK release of Aladdin since Disney doesn't pull that crap in Europe nearly as much.

Be advised that not every Disney UK disc is region-free, but you can always check the user-reported listings on this site to make certain beforehand.

Is it just me, or do some of the blacks seem to be shifting colors in certain scenes? In the beginning scenes with Jasmine arguing against marriage, Raja's stripes seemed to switch between black and faint brown between cuts, Sultan's eyebrows looked muddy brown for the most part but black in the close ups, Jasmine's hair sometimes had a greenish outline instead of the normal gray, etc.

Does anyone know where I can find a slipcover for this? I’d be willing to pay and appreciate it.

The Diamond Edition costs $53.90 on Amazon. The live action movie is hitting theaters in less than 5 months.

When will Aladdin get out of the vault with an official Signature collection?

Later than Little Mermaid

Nobody here knows.
Disney isn't saying

Speculation is when the Live Action is released either in theater or on disc -- so maybe by the beginning/end of the summer if they want to jump it in the queue ahead of 5 other titles that have been in vault longer. Aladdin only been off the market for a year

just for those who are obsessed with such minutiae -- nobody knows what the menu or logos will look like, what the digital will contain, whether they'll fix something or change something that lasts 1-2 frames, what Jasmine's nose will look like, which version of the clouds will be used, what the opening music will be, or whether they'll replace the supposed hidden secret Palace wall frames from the 10pm showing of the Burbank theater on Magnolia 10pm 2nd Saturday of release week that was rumored to be removed.

In my opinion, Disney should have released Aladdin (in 4K) now, just in time for the live-action adaption's release in theatres, then The Little Mermaid (in 4K) in Summer & finally Frozen in November, since the sequel is coming out.
But since they decided to release Ariel now, this means no Aladdin 4K this year. Just Frozen.

There's nothing stopping them from releasing it in the summer. This is only January, don't act like everything is set in stone.

I think it's smart for Disney to wait until after the live-action version comes out. Those who didn't buy the previous BD will see the film for a nostalgia fix, then if (when ) it sucks, they can buy the new BD when it drops later this year. Hell, Disney might well release both versions simultaneously.

The name... that's about it... Signature is newer though if it matters.
