Given Paramount’s habit of only releasing their franchise films on UHD around the release of a new theatrical entry in the series, I’m paranoid that the (much needed) Star Trek UHDs will never see the light of day, simply because it’s going to be a while until we see a new Star Trek film and I fear the format may be dead by that point. I just want every major film/franchise released on this format as soon as possible, before the studio’s conclude that it’s too niche and not worth the financial investment.

The crushed blacks I’ve noticed too, however I am not entirely sure that it is different on the Blu-ray as well. I quickly switched between the HDR10 and the DV and the black level is the same. Once I am finished with the film I will check the standard Blu-ray. |

![]() With that said, I love your multi-faceted reasoning-within-reasoning-within-reason inception-like attempts to make nonsensical leaps in storytelling clues to have some kind of applicable logic! What I thought was the MOST fun about M:I was how there were shots and scenes which planted clues revealing who might be watching Ethan at any time. That was clever. [Show spoiler] As for the mystery itself... It's overly complicated, convoluted, and silly. I thought this the last time I saw it, too; in 1996 lawlz You're right about your question regarding the "link". I also felt that it was quite far-fetched. Then again, the movie itself revels in being far-fetched and ridiculous when it comes to the Impossible Mission. |

![]() -Commentary by Tom Cruise and Director Christopher McQuarrie -Lighting the Fuse -Cruise Control -Heroes...... -......And Rogues -Cruising Altitude -Mission Immersible -Sand Theft Auto -The Mission Continues With an Additional 50 minutes of EXCLUSIVE behind-the-scenes footage featuring the film's action-packed stunts. Not sure about MI3 or GP but it seems they might have put all the extras on one disc including the exclusive material. Can someone who has region B confirm this. |

M:I2 -
Another great UHD. Kind of the same things to say as I had to say with the first one. However, there are more daytime shots, especially at beaches and ... sand. These outdoor shots are beautiful, with striking detail in several parts that made my eyes go wide (such as at around 1:28:15, when Ethan is climbing the rock face ledge. The overhead shot of him climbing caught my eye). Shadow detail in sun-filled exteriors is wonderful. Take for example the final action sequence, and when he starts "The Main Showdown" on the beach. As for the movie: You know, it wasn't as completely stupid as I remember it being. Until the last 30 minutes. For the first hour and a half, I kind of thought "this isn't as cheesy as I recall". But then, all hell breaks loose and it's almost a parody of even John Woo's wooing ways. It was the moment when he does the flying flip kick in a group of pidgeons where it all starts going wayyyy downhill. The motorcycle chase has some great stunts, but I kept laughing every time a vehicle exploded. Sometimes, that same vehicle would explode TWICE. I thought that the part when a Range Rover gets pushed off the road and runs into six (really old and cheap) cars all lined up in a row that the Rover would explode AT THE SAME TIME as the other six cars. Sadly, only the Range Rover exploded, anti-climactically flipping on top of the other cars, and just... well that's it. If anything, it showed a lot of restraint on John Woo's part to not let EVERY vehicle explode during the action scene. Haha! The final 20 minutes reminds me of Face/Off a bit. I haven't seen Face/Off since it came out, either. However, I remember thinking it was a dumb, bombastic but fun enough movie. Until the boat chase sequence at the end. I remember sitting in the theater and going, "OK man, this is just one action scene too many. I'm ready for the movie to end, now." But it kept going, and going. I think even at one point, the Energizer Bunny pounded his drum across the screen, did a half spin - and then slowed down and stopped moving. That's kind of how I felt with M:I2 for the final 15 minutes. Overall, it's not the complete disaster I had in my head for the last 18 years. But turning Ethan into the Terminator, Rambo, and a low-rent Martin Riggs that can slow motion kick and float in mid-air like he's in the Matrix just doesn't cut it for me. Thandie Newton, though... my god, she is one of the most beautiful amalgamation of molecules this universe has ever pseudo-randomly assembled. Yowza. |

You guys are making me want to watch the movies haha. I am almost done with this monster of a project, so I will need to take a movie or sleep break soon before I come back around to review and edit.
