StarShip Troopers EU release in few days? - Blu-ray Forum

I am sorry if this has been up before - but it seems the StarShip Troopers movie on blu-ray, just announced in the US - will be released in a few days in Europe?

Is this an error, or is it distributed by someone else than Sony in Europe? If so, does anyone know any details on the treatment of this release?

According to Amazon UK it is released on August 6th, it is shown as Buena Vista Home Entertainment which I think is part of Disney.

but AFAIK, its a sony release in the US right?

so, should I just get the EU release now? I will go nuts if the EU release gets a lesser treatment compared to the US transfer

Paidgeek mentioned the US delay as being due to spending more time on added value, so the eventual US release might have more special features.

BVHE releases seem to be typically coded for all regions, there are some more details here:

Buena vista haven't made a bad release yet so i only expect it to be good! Mine was shipped yesterday!

Unfortunately, it's only Region B.

Are you sure about this? The jacket says regions A, B, & C and someone at AVS confirmed it worked on a US PS3.

Well since it says all regions i think all regions are supported

(A B C == all regions)

It's Region B. Amazon UK says the same. How could they have played it on a US PS3? It hasn't been released yet.

Got my copy of the UK Blu-ray Starship Troopers today, scan of the rear cover attached for interest.

Video is VC-1, from the bits I've looked at so far seems to be around high 20s Mbps, often going over 30.

Video looks pretty good to me, obviously limited by the source material in places, some scenes are quite grainy, but generally very sharp and detailed.

Another thing I'd note about the video quality is that it strikes me as very similar to Deja Vu which was also released here by Touchstone and was a similar bitrate VC-1 encode.

The only complaint I have about the Starship Troopers video quality is there seems to be some smearing in places like temporal smoothing has been applied, but this is a common problem with many high def titles, and there aren't too many places in the movie where you notice it.
