why not just have both in the same room, get a retractable screen installed, mount the projector on the ceiling have all your surround sound components in their normal spots and wah lah, LCD TV for daytime viewing, projector for night time.

I know someone who has done this, it's mainly to keep his wife happy, you see some people don't want to convert an entire room to a dark home theatre, some people want to actually live in their homes too, so this way you can entertain and have lots of light in the day, and use the projector at night.
