Does that qualify as a newbie hat trick? To the OP, black bars usually indicate that you are viewing the movie with all of the visual information that the director wanted you to see. To eliminate black bars on a 16:9 display, you either need to stretch or crop the image if the original source has an aspect ratio of something other than 16:9. This is an unacceptable compromise to anyone seeking to replicate the look of the original film as closely as possible. If it's any help, you will most likely be less troubled by letterboxing the more material you watch that uses it. |

Honestly, for those of us who visit this site daily, it gets tiresome having to see these threads monopolize the "Recent Thread Posts" list when the same questions have been answered LITERALLY a thousand times. Seriously, this topic shows up at least once a week... if not more. And, it isn't the only topic that does. There are at least 15 topics that keep resurfacing over and over and over again as new threads. I'm probably the most patient person on these forums when it comes to topics like this. But, it is certainly starting to tweak me just ever so slightly. |

Take back your expensive Monster cable and use the money to put towards one of these televisions. Problem solved.
