When we get to 60 and 120fps motion blur should be a thing of the past.
It will take time to adjust our eyes and re-adapt, but with the good will and work from the film directors and movie studios it will become the best ball game @ the park with the family.

I think.

Wide viewing angle is nice, 3D is nicer.

How hard is it to hunt down?

It's in a lot of quality stores, HT stores. And online.

I spent an hour at a huge HT store playing 4K disc via Sony x800 on a 65 inch Z9D. Arrival. Mad Max, Ender's game.

I was really disappointed with my audition.
Darks are'nt deep. 10w+10w speakers quite loud enough.
$2999. Sony Demo looks awesome. But HDR10 Disc movies don't translate similarly in picture quality. Yes. I studied specular highlights from those movies from the Z9D too.

Few months ago in a Magnolia store I watched stuff non Sony demo material on a calibrated Z9D. It was far from fantastic.

I want to put a DV and HDR10 disc in a Z9F.
And see what it can do. Its gotta be better than Z9D. If 65 inch going to sell for $3000-3500 or more.

So far I looked at length 2 Sony Z9D playing non Sony Demo material. It's just not that impressive. Maybe it was just those 2 Z9D's. I'll try to find another set. Maybe even buy one for a long duration home audition. At $2500 it may come fast.

But to really know one needs to audition the Z9F at one' home also

Excuse me, are you the master of future crystal ball reading?

Instead of asking who's trolling, why not learn?

The Z9D definitely is fine. Just ask Geoff or any other owner, or Vincent Teoh.

Personally I think it just might end up wearing that crown for even longer than expected...

My 65" occasionally exhibits a very faint and short motion blur trail (mostly visible when a dark object moves very fast against a light background), but it happens so fast you'll have a hard time noticing it and I only see it every once in a while. It's not like it is happening all the time. A test video perhaps would say otherwise, but that's not the type of content you will be watching regularly.

My 75" is even finer, taking it a couple of steps further than the already impressive 65". Meaning among other things there is no motion blur.

So I think the Z9D is (still) highly recommended. It's a classic TV IMO. King of the Hill since 2016.

I'm still keeping the Z9F in mind as a possible upgrade though. But it will have to be just that, an actual upgrade in every department. It already has the disadvantage of not having 3D, and some of the observations at the Sony event have me worrying. I need to see a lot of in depth reviews before deciding to take the plunge on this one.

In the meantime I'm hoping for more (positive) news on the Z9F when IFA is being held at the end of this month.

Thank you for the link.
I see...

Vincent Teoh added that Sony ZD9 “suffered due to audience dislike of missing highlight detail”. Sony’s HDR tone-mapping “favoured retaining brightness over detail to replicate director's intent”
So much was missing(details) when I watched Arrival in HDR10 disc(I looked at lots of scenes very close). Watching Mad Max, Enders Game HDR10 disc was'nt that great. Viewing all three with 65inch Z9D via Sony x800. At a high end HT Store in moderate low lighting.

Sony's Z9D Demos material playing always looked awesome tho.

OK. We now all gotta see how Z9F is!!!

It was in a "Living Room" demo.
Very expensive leather(?) TV Chairs with inserts for drinks, Z9D inserted in expensive wood high and wide furnishing(I had to open shelf door to get to the Sony x800 player). Although there was surround sound system.... I'd asked it be off so I can audition Z9D's 10w+10w internal speakers for loudness. The sales agent even turned off a lamp on an end table near the Z9D.

That "Living Room" at the HT store looked better than where I have my 65 inch G6 Signature OLED at my home.

It was a fair audition of the 65 inch Z9D.

At that same HT store in another "Living Room" really close by thats similarly furnished it had the Sony A8F OLED. WOW!!! PQ was awesome. Very impressive. But I want to buy new Sony coming out to stores this Fall. With the new Technology if PQ is better.

Note A8F has the highest "HDR Movie" score I ever seen from Rting at 92 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/a8f

Can't wait for their review of the A9F

Understand. I want a new Sony to view Dolby Vision and HDR10 movies. Not gaming, etc.
I want a Sony big screen to replace my other Sony TV.

If I bought an OLED it’s probably be that Sony but I’m not a fan of ABL or OLED’s motion so, meh.

But let’s stay on topic. Z9F. Rumored priced still about $3500-$4000?

thats good to know. A lot of reviews about it always mention something about it. Like it's biggest flaw is that and its really noticeable. I'm guessing it gets blown out of proportion like Plasma/OLED burn-in.

I got a Panny ST50and have watched sports and played games and no burn-in. It image retentions like a mother-f'r but have been very lucky.

thinking he means the 75in. The 65in is rumored to be $3500. So $3500 or $4000. If its not that big of an improvement, Best Buy and Robert still have the 65in Z9D's at $3k

Of course he meant the 75".

This is the TV, this Sony LED for serious 3D aficionados, last year model...the Z9D, both 65 and 75"
For strictly 2D, this year model...the Z9F.

And for OLED go best go Panasonic.
Second Best, Sony.

Is the 3D on the Z9D supposed to be better than other Sony active 3D tv's? I like the 3D on mine but most seem to hate on the active 3D and the OLED's seem to be favored.
