Gotta read the whole article, but I can summarize for ya:
OLED Panels produced globally by LGD in 2017 = 1.7 million. Of those LG took 1.2 million and Sony took 200,000 in 2017. LGD will make 2.8 million OLED panels in 2018. LG will take 1.7 million in 2018 (500k more than they did in 2017). Sony will take 500,000 in 2018 (300k more than 2017). A few other companies take fewer than 100k panels per year to make the above numbers add up. For the US, I agree that you're probably correct that Magnolia will take the bulk of Sony A9Fs. Heh, they'll take more than 300 for display models across the country.
Interesting thought by bootymonger

Hmmm Robert of Value Electronics.... maybe under 100K panels of A9F's. Wonder if he plans equal panel counts A9F and Z9F for inHouse Stock

I know that, but the technology keeps advancing rapidly. ...2020 is fine too, no big deal...a year or two.

* Receivers are starting to get HDMI 2.1 ... it won't be long now till TVs get them too. ...By 2020?

Bob.

The Z been in a 2 year cycle.

G maybe in year 2020.
The Japanese Olymbic year.
But that's the year of the 8K

Question is will Z9F have the HDMI 2.1 Chip in. But Sony keeps Mum. Like Z9D had Dolby Vision chip but kept Mum for a long time. If my old memory serves

Yeah technology is always advancing but I’m OK with plunking $3500 down for the Z9F’s 65” model. I have a set that doesn’t have the best HDR implementation (even if it tone maps well), and all that really matters to me is having a TV that can produce wider color, nice bright highlights and an accurate image overall. Sony seems to fare best with DSE uniformity issues and they just seem to be of better quality overall. I personally don’t care about a slew of other features. Just give me a great image and I’m good to go.

The Z9F and A9F have HDMI 2.0B with HDCP 2.3.

It's not because OLEDs is a truly handicap'd PQ technology.
More Nissan's sell per year than Bentley's.

Thanks Robert, now you have me a bit worried about this new HDCP 2.3. What is the difference between that and the older 2.2? Anything we need to be aware of? Will the HD Fury devices still work?
I don’t want to drag this thread in another direction but I pulled up the white paper and it was 112 pgs and not easy reading.

When we're talking LED technology Sony leads. Samsung second.

OLED? Panasonic leads in Canada and the UK.
By leading I don't mean money I mean the best picture.

In the USA Sony leads again with OLED. LG leads for money, value.

It's too bad that 4K discs are not getting Dolby Vision but streaming 4K does.
It's time to kill physical discs and reintroduce 3D streaming...I think.

It's a beautiful day today, everyone is smiling, the girls look their best and all the children are happy like angels in paradise. We take good care of our families and friends, as we do of our movies and LED TVs from Sony...the best of both worlds.

It's a shame Sony gave up on OLED production.
They will fix that with CLED tho

Eh. They'll probably put a couple of prototypes out and then drop it like a hot potato, OLED all over again.

Looks like it's hard to talk up a storm. When NoBody has a ZF9 to touch. Everyone's is Guessed Out too(Z9F's Goodies).

Who on this thread will be among the first to buy an ZF9.

I'm definitely getting one. I'll pre-order the darn thing if I have to. I'll see if the local Magnolia at Best Buy is going to be taking them. If not, I'll seek other means.

Best Buy's credit card gives 10% in BB Rewards. For its first usage. Not sure if applies to Magnolia.

We offer our clients a 10% Sony Rewards credit so for example if the TV is $5k you would have $500 to go towards any a/v device, speakers, receiver, BD player, or any accessory or take the 5 year warranty. Seems simulator to what Best Buy does.

Robert

Can a discounted QC and calibration be included in that 10%?

Personally, that's what I would do

WOW!!!
This Bob is a neighbor of mine.

His first TV that was professionally broke-in and calibrated. He's around 85 AND he just got married.

Not the Z9D but the 75X900F. A BIG step up for him in both TV and love.
