Exactly. Most of it is already in the movie anyway.

I'm still trying. If they won't license it to me I'll pressure them to put it out. I want that movie too!

MVD Rewind Guy, do you know the rights situation with 1993's Ticks? Olive Films put out a Blu-ray & DVD release under licence from Paramount/Republic, but that went OOP (and is fetching serious $$$ right now) because Paramount rights expired and supposedly reverted to Overseas Filmgroup (the production company and foreign distributor) successor Millennium/Alchemy, who had severe financial issues and dissolved not too long ago. All this means the rights are now in limbo unless somehow they're with the films director or the producers. Again, it would be a title to explore getting out again since the Olive releases are going for absurd cash.

When the release was originally planned, it was to be a joint effeort between MVD and Umbrella for North America. We announced the title and MGM notified Umbrella that they were the North American rights holder for the title and Umbrella instructed us to cancel the title. HOWEVER...

I knew some of the folks there and gave them a call and asked them if we could licence the title from them (which opened the door for us to pick up a few others, many of which are in the MVD Marquee Collection as well as the upcoming "Rewind" title, "Bright Lights, Big City"). They agreed and we did a deal, BUT... MGM had no master for the film other than the old Beta SP that they used for the 1980's VHS release. Umbrella, on the other hand, DID have an HD master so we worked a deal out (by the way, the team at Umbrella is AWESOME... great people) that Umbrella would allow MVD to use thier HD master for our MGM licened Rewind release.

To answer your question... The master that they provided does not open with the logo of the original Australian distributors, it has the Lion and the UA logo that plays before the movie rolls.

I hope you guys pick this up. It's a fun movie with one of my favorite covers / artwork that we've done. Thanks!
Very interesting, so it was licensed from MGM but the HD master did indeed come from an outside source, which was Umbrella (didn't you guys release their Attack Force Z disc recently but in different packaging since the Umbrella disc was region free anyway?)

Do you guys have plans to release anymore collaborations with Umbrella? I know of one 80s retro aussie with a young Nicole Kidman that deserves a proper release, 1983's Bush Christmas. Umbrella I believe owns that since they put out the DVD in native Australia, and I hear it has an HD master as someone on Youtube posted the Hoyts logo from an HDTV airing with that video link I sent with my Waverider post.

Yeah... Attack Force Z was supposed to be one of the first Rewind titles but they didn't want to wait and wanted to get it out so that became an "MVD Visual" stand alone (not unline some of the earlier releases I worked on like Comin' at Ya! and Forbidden Zone). I made plans for Bush Christmas but they licened that to someone else.

MVD Rewind Guy, I have one more title inquiry question. Do you know who owns 1989's The Delinquents with Kylie Minogue (Street Fighter), Charlie Schlatter (Bright Lights, Big City), and music by Miles Goodman?

That one never got any form of release in the US (despite having an American male lead for a planned US theatrical run), but Warner Bros did release it in Europe and has a SD copy on ITunes UK. I heard the producers, Delinquents Pty Ltd, are the primary copyright holder and it has an HD master that made the runs on an Aussie streaming provider (going by a logo upload on Youtube). Again, another title to explore.

Are you certain about that? I know they own distribution rights in Europe (only region to get theatrical screenings outside of Australia) and that the producers own the rights in Australia and heard they have them in the US because Warner dropped theatrical plans and did nothing but let their rights lapse.

Warner owns this title so only Shout is our hope

Great news! Any hints as to which one????

Also, any thoughts on snagging Gleaming the Cube? Don't think I've seen that title pop up anywhere in this thread.

Seeing as how Double Dragon is getting released, it makes me think of Super Mario Bros which still doesn't have a US BD, but I'm guessing that's out of the question for MVD since it's Disney?
