I hope they add the mono track. It's damn annoying that the only way to get the film with the original audio is buying that damn set.

Agreed, hoping for a better grading this time along with the wider color gamut will improve things.

f.y.e. (for your entertainment)

on September 11th, apparently FYE is suppose to release a steelbook of Halloween exclusively. Highly doubt it's the 4K release, and the advertisement on the store looked to be a re release of the 35th anniversary bluray.

Yup...pre-ordered. Can't wait as usual. Was surprised to see the release date of 25th September. Much sooner than I thought it would be. Was expecting end of October.

As an aside, any news on The Fog 4k? I read the other day a brand new 4k restoration has been done on it for the first time and there will be some US screenings in October. Maybe this means a 4k disc release is pending.....

The Fog is coming in 4K UHD in late Oct.
There is a thread in the International version, along with Prince of Darkness, and They Live. Now just waiting for a place that will ship to US.

I hope that they don't screw up with this release and that they put a lot of effort into it. Also that the blu ray disc included in this is corrected with the picture quality from the digibook version that has the HD mono audio mixed in with it.

Saw an excellent 35mm print of They Live earlier this week. A 4K UHD would be exquisite!

Lol - it's entertaining to read the posts from the self-styled 'experts" who seem to know "how" the film is supposed to look.

I don't think he sounds as you say. Nothing wrong with saying you're not a fan of the presentation, since you know...we are on a thread dedicated to presentation of the movie.

But as had been mentioned before, Cundey approved a notably different (more saturated) color timing for the THX DVD vs the 35th ann BD. If he is supervised the UHD BD, I wouldn't be surprised to see him for a bit more saturated look again.

He also approved both Shout and Arrow's The Thing remasters, which looked radically different. I don't think his approval means jack-diddly-squat other than he got a phone call and a check.

They need to post the back cover so we can get a peek as to what extra features are included.

I think people are getting far too excited, seeing as who is releasing it. T2 anyone? Wouldn't be surprised if this is only a mild upgrade at best. At worst, a DNR nightmare. Just saying don't get your hopes up until the final product is released and it's known for sure to be a stellar release. Same with Evil Dead. When it comes to morons like Lionsgate, it's always better to assume the worst, unless it ends up being the best. Huge fan of both those movies myself. Doubt it will be enough of an upgrade to push me into the world of 4K. If I'm wrong, great.

My prediction: the UHD will have the commentary and nothing else, whereas the accompanying BD will be a copy and paste of the 35th Anniversary Edition.

Weren't StudioCanal to blame for Terminator 2?

T2 was all down to Cameron and Lightstorm, Lionsgate just released what they were handed. Same is happening here I believe, since Lionsgate just distribute Halloween and don't own it? Not 100% sure but I believe that's the case.

Lionsgate DO have their own UHD issues, but they don't apply to T2.
