Fair do's. And a rather neat simile to sum it up as well.

Nothing wrong with people wondering where the breaking news is. I think you're being a bit harsh. People care about Robert cause we like him.

To other people: he posted his shipment of Panasonic 4k blu-ray players on the Value Electronics Instagram account 4 hours ago, so he's probably just busy

I'm sure he's fine, Ray. I've known Robert for years, and he always, always works very long hours--that's just his way.

Of course, it also might be that the NDA doesn't expire until tonight.

It's more curiousity.

Very sorry to say I can't break all of the big news. Seems like what I was confidentially told yesterday I misunderstood that my tip was just one day in advance of the official announcement. I'm still under the DNA embargo.

Here's the part I can share... Our 2018 TV Shootout is now scheduled for Sunday, September 23, 2018. I’ve brought the event back to my Scarsdale NY showroom as I want full control as we have done for most of the 14 years since I first developed my first TV Shootout display evaluation event.

We were the first to do a side-by-side display evaluation event and then first again to include a reference display so the color fidelity, color saturation and contrast could be properly evaluated next to a Hollywood studio grading monitor. I have a few more first's for this year's event and I'm sure you will all share my enthusiasm and excitement when we see this year's crop of exceptional flagship TVs from the premium manufacturers all lined up butt-to-butt on one stage.

Again this year will evaluate all of the picture quality elements pre calibration in the best out of the box mode and post calibration for day and night viewing.

Tomorrow I'll have my press release finalized and I'll start a 2018 TV Shootout thread so we don't derail this very important Z9F thread and we can discuss everything in great detail.

That to me is real exciting. For the last couple years I wanted to fly out to be at the shootout but didn't want to go into N.Y. City to do it.

BUT now that it's back home, I don't have to go into the city and I get to see your store; now it's worth the flight.

Are you going to let visitors stop by to watch?

In my opinion Scarsdale's a more pleasant town than NYC anyway (nothing against the city, New Yorkers!), so I'm heartened it's back there for 2018.

Have you an official list of the competitors, Robert?

Just a short follow-up here: does this mean Sony will be releasing its big announcement sometime tomorrow? I mean, not that everyone's adrenaline isn't already going...

Never a cover, and all visitors are welcome and encouraged! We buy all of our TV Shootout samples and take them totally random from our inventory.

No advertising or vendor sponsorship and no interference from anyone other than our core group of independent volunteer supporters. Very impressive list of supporters and advisors help me put this very intensive event on.

Looking forward to it, think Sony might take the crown if the hype is real on their new OLED. I’m sure there will be plenty of whine whoever wins.

I believe in the past LG cared enough about this event to send their technicians to the event to make sure their sets were working properly.

I was in one of the local TV stores not long ago; the Sony TVs you can demo with a 4K BR player, the LG and Samsung TVs you couldn't. It is an obligation that must be abided by; they have their own demo picture loops. That is strange, very.

There is no such silly thing with Sony.

I remember a 3-4 years ago, Samsung sent three techs to the Shootout. One came all the way from Korea.

That's how important Samsung thinks the event is.

It was way back when 4K OLED first burst onto the retail scene, I think, that LG sent a bunch of their engineers all the way from Korea to Scarsdale for the shootout. That was back at the old shop on Scarsdale Road. All the major manufacturers take both this event and the HDTVtest event very seriously; there's a lot of money and market dominance in the balance.

LG won that year--despite a few color reproduction issues, they had a heckuva TV.

Yeah lets hype some news on something and not even announce it. I hate when people do that.
