Like what? The supplements available already are so comprehensive I can't imagine caring about anything new. WB would do the picture quality and encode arguably better, or at least even. The only real difference would be Criterion would include a booklet, and I love booklets, but I don't think that's a big whoop.

Being included into the Criterion is more than just restorations and extras. It’s the equivalent of being inducted into the Library of Congress. It’s one of the most prestigious honors a film can receive. Even moreso than an Academy Award.

I really shouldn't use this gif again so soon, but what the hell, it sums up my feelings perfectly towards the above comment ^

This. People need to stop riding Criterion's collective dick.

I figured his comment was tongue-in-cheek, but then it's increasingly hard to tell on this site...

Which is why they chose to include the prestigious "Armageddon" into their library.

I had that thought too but you never know with Poya. The face/off gif is the only way to be sure.

Oh man you're sooo right. I had to answer this post. Years ago when I was reviewing various released on DVD on my site I received Criterion's Armageddon - being a reviewer I was forced to sit through that piece of shit multible times (the film, and a few audio commentaries). The film itself was a longer cut as well - OH MY GOD!!!

What a waste of time, and the moments of my life.
There, I said it. I let it out. Years of pent up anger. Thank you.

Being a fan of visual effects and science fiction, I think Armageddon offers some pretty fantastic imagery.

But it's just soooo bad. And not so bad it's good. So bad it's bad. Bad script, bad science, bad dialogue, bad humor, bad continuity. Just all-around bad. The only thing it has going for it is the visuals. But lots of other movies offer great visuals and a good film to go along with them.

Superman has a lot of iffy visuals, yet it's infinitely better than Armageddon.

I've never seen it. I've always thought it looked shit. And that Aerosmith song can go die in a fire.

My comment was half-truth, exaggerating, and tongue-in-cheek. Nice to see I’m famous enough for people to know what I post.

BTW, Armageddon (and The Rock) was included because someone from the higher up knew Bay personally and convinced the others to include it into the Criterion. Still, it’s no longer there so it doesn’t matter anymore.

You can still buy them both I think. From their website and from Amazon. Though it's been a while since I last checked.

Funny thing is, after my post today I went over my girlfriend's for her birthday and her sister had tuned in to Armageddon which was on TV. They both love that film.

I have to admit Bruce Willis makes any movie he’s in more watchable. I should know, I paid three times to see ‘Hudson Hawk’ in theaters. My friends all couldn’t go at once. He’s one of those actors I can watch in anything.
