Same, I decided to cancel mine. I’m pretty sure Universal will push it out and like you said I don’t trust SF anymore. Frankly I’m sick of them re-releasing their titles with 4K scans just a few years years after the initial release. I made the decision not to do anymore double dips for standard BD’s anyway. I’m fine with my SF boxset for the sequels until we see a UHD. The 1st is the one I really want anyway seeing that it’s my favourite horror movie.

The screenshots of the theatrical cut looked very solid, I assume it's a negative scan and the DC is from an IP since the negative would have probably been conformed to match the theatrical cut and since the DC was actually the international theatrical cut, it would exist on an IP.

What's interesting is that in those screenshots, the theatrical looked more vibrant whereas the DC looked dull by comparison. For some reason SF's 4K IP scans look pretty lifeless yet their 2K IP scans and all their OCN scans tend to look fine. Very peculiar.

The Thing and Midnight Run were 2K off of IP and they're two of the worst ones out there for all those odd problems like sharpening and colour fringing.

Those weren't the only ones with those problems, a few others were botched in the exact same way. That was like two years ago now though and they fixed whatever the issue was. If were talking about their output in the last few months, their 4K IP scans have been overly dull and soft but evrrything else looks fine.

Who the hell knows what goes on over at SF sometimes?

This is true. It's like they've got someone throwing darts at a board labelled 'which video **** ups will we have this month?'.

In the Mouth of Madness ain't nuthin' special either. Either slightly upgraded or slightly downgraded depending on who you ask. A new, modern scan SHOULD almost always be an improvement, as seen from other labels not named Shout.

The first one looks too Twilight-esque.

It's known that the original Michael Myers mask was a re-purposed mask of William Shatner.

I just learned of that only a couple of months ago. I was tickled to discover it.
