Ah! I see that Ritrovata "restored" Halloween!

Just be thankful it's Lionsgate and not Pathe.

One of the few benefits of being color blind is A) finding the DC movies colorful and B) not caring about color timing because my eyes can't see it anyway.

I actually have always preferred the blueish tint of the Anchor Bay DVD era for this specific film, mainly because (as someone with red-green colorblindness) blue is one of the only colors I can see every shade of exactly like everyone else. For that reason it always felt like it had the most depth to me.

Nobody is assuming anything. How many times do you have to be told this info? It has HDR Dolby Vision

I think that means it also has to have HDR-10.

If they did it, it would probably look more like this!

I noticed that diabolikdvd.com lists one of the audio options as being Dolby Atmos. I don't suppose anyone can confirm or deny this? Purists need not apply

Too early yet, but the disc would say Atmos and not audio if it did.

If you look at the mask in Halloween 6 it has spock ears. The very last shot of the film with the mask laid on the floor next to the syringe is the best place to see it. It must be a nod to shatner.

All Dolby Vision encodes have a base HDR-10 layer.

That's funny. It must have been the filmmakers idea of a inside joke.

I may have to quadruple dip with this for that artwork if the BD somehow has the original mono track. I haven't gone 4k UHD yet and hadn't planned on it, but this may have to be the beginning....

Just discovered that this will be coming next month...perhaps a tie-in with the new film that's due out this Halloween?

As an avid fan of this masterpiece, I actually have preferred -- all these years later -- the Anchor Bay THX DVD from circa 1998/99 (which I still own and play every October 31). Aside from some obvious aliasing in certain sequences, such as on the chrome lines of Mr. Strode's Cadillac, and some murky blacks, this version always looked "right" to me. I also own Anchor Bay's first Blu-ray release of the title, that stripped-down affair that exhibited too much film grain and color shifts in key sequences, but I always thought the THX DVD was the more definitive version. I missed the 30th (was it?) anniversary edition of the Blu, and I didn't buy the Halloween franchise collection because I don't care for any the films beyond The Return of Michael Myers and I already own decent-looking DVD versions of Halloween II, III and Return of Michael Myers.

All of that said, it's films like this and other classics such as The Exorcist and Amityville Horror (the American International original, not the abomination of a remake with Ryan Reynolds) that I would rebuy in a second in 4K if a proper 4K remaster/new scan was performed, not merely what always seems to be a porting-over from an inferior resolution version. I was burned on The Exorcist, IMO, when I bought Warner's original digibook BD release because to my eyes it looked very similar to the upconverted DVD of The Version You've Never Seen -- if studios like Warner would remaster something like The Exorcist in true 2160p (I think it is) and clean up certain film elements and damage/noise, etc., I'd gladly triple dip on select titles. I realize, of course, this is a very expensive proposition but one can dream, can't one?

At any rate, I'm gonna wait to see some reviews of the Halloween UHD release before purchasing it (well, the first thing I gotta purchase is a UHD player!)...

Yes. I was hoping it would get at least a few chuckles. Haha. That said, I will wait for reviews/screens to see if there's any green/yellow/cyan tint added. If not, instant purchase as long as the transfer itself (outside of the color timing) is a significant step up from the Ltd. Collectors Box Blu. It actually IS one of my all time favorite films.

I don’t have a 4K TV or player... but this single release really makes me wish I could swing it financially right now and upgrade.

Whenever I do need a new TV I’m definitely going 4K and this will be my first purchase.

Has there been any word yet on any possible special features...either older or newer?

If there is, I really hope the regular Blu-Ray included in this will include any new special extras. If it does, I will purchase it just for that.

It'll be the same master as the previous Cundey-approved disc, so why would there be any green/yellow/cyan tint added? And that's not how color grading works anyway.

I went ahead and pre-ordered through Best Buy as I had $10 in rewards. Hopefully it is a visual upgrade from the Blu-Ray. I'd love to hear it with a good audio mix, but it seems that it might be the same as on the Blu?
