There are some decent looking out of the box home theater systems with Dolby tru hd and Dts hd ma from sony and samsung that even have 7.1 for 1 grand(ht-bd2t)...these worth gettin rather than a proper set up with individual speakers and a reciever? - for ps3 blu rays and games

Well if you must go with a HTIB system I would go with a Onkyo setup but getting a AVR and saving for speakers would be better

I started with an Onkyo HTiB system. I'd say it is a good budget way of getting everything you need. At the same time like others will say getting an AVR and speakers separate is the ideal way of doing it. I just replaced my Onkyo front speakers with a pair of Polk's. The difference in sound is very dramatic.
