14 years ago. I was 16 at the time (the silver car in the video was my 1st car). Crappy cameras. Crappy skating. But my entire youth summed up. Why this movie is going to mean so much to me.

Looks like Larry Clark's Kids which I love. Plus growing up in the '90s and skateboarding are two things that I have fond memories of.

I think it was the Captain Marvel thread where people were talking about how a movie could work being set in the 90s. Well this one looks great and doesn't need Nirvana to sell it.

Just saw Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot last night, which features Jonah Hill. Noticed the lead actor from Mid 90's had a small role as a skateboarder in it. Probably how they met.

The kid (and also other cast members of Mid90s) also skate for Illegal Civilization which is tangentially linked to Odd Future, which Jonah has been a fan of for many years so he might've met through that connection as well, maybe he even got the kid the job on Don't Worry haha

Saw the trailer for this last night while watching 8th Grade. There are quite a few decent looking flicks coming from A24. I am super stoked for this one!

Hill wrote, produced, and directed the film, which follows a 13-year-old named Stevie over the course of a summer as he makes friends with a group of skaters. As the title suggests, the film takes place in the mid-1990s. This looks to be a very character-driven coming-of-age story a la Lady Bird, which shares both a producer (Scott Rudin) and a studio (A24) in common with Mid90s.

Reznor and Ross haven’t scored that many narrative features. Their groundbreaking score for The Social Network won them an Oscar, and they reteamed with director David Fincher on both The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl. Their last narrative feature score was for the 2016 Mark Wahlberg thriller Patriots Day, and beyond that they scored the climate change documentary Before the Flood and Ken Burns’ docuseries The Vietnam War.

So yeah, if you needed yet another reason to be excited for Mid90s, here it is. The film will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month before opening in theaters on October 19th.

How much of a "score" does this movie really need though? I feel like this movie would be much well better suited for a soundtrack full of 90's skate jams and hip hop.

This definitely looks good. And with Reznor and Ross -- oh yeah.

But wow, somehow it surprised me that Katherine Waterston is already at the point where she's playing mom roles.
