I don't get it. What does that have anything to do with an editing error not being fixed in the MVD release?

When the German distributor (digidreams) put together the extended cut, they forgot to remove a piece of dialog that was changed for the U.S. cut. Now you have the doctor telling Gaultier (Van Damme) that his brothers killers have been arrested, followed by his killers may never be found.

Did they mention any way to check the packaging or the BD markings to determine if new purchases have the corrected disc?

Otherwise, I guess I'll have to bubble this release to the top of my queue to find out. I still haven't received 6/12 order from DD, so hoping the delays are for them to get corrected stock.

It's a continutity error that was introduced in the creation of the directors cut. Depending on how MVD's licensing contract is they may not be able to edit the footage. Also that's the way it's always been to my knowledge in all versions of the DC. It's not MVD's responsibility to change it. As soon as you drop that file into an editing program and make edits, it has to be output again. This can downgrade PQ if they didn't receive the raw video file of the film. Another factor could be budget for the release, they already spent a lot on the extras, hiring an editor may have not been in the cards for them.

I love the mentality of folks who are like "I TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM EXISTED! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED!!!"

That's a huge wish list. I'll take a look at it. Some of those are already on my wish list (I'd love to do "3:15"). Thanks for taking the time.

I'll keep upgrading it time to time. Yeah, let me hear if some of those are in your radar for...well you know.
Some of the biggest wishes for me are:

Alone in the Dark (1982)
Artic Heat aka Born American (1986)
Hei tai yang 731 aka Men Behind the Sun (1988) - THE FULL UNCUT VERSION
The King of the Kickboxers (1990) - UNRATED
The New Kids aka Striking Back (1985)

Wow... great question.

KINO LORBER
note: many of these I was part of a "team" of people who also deserve credit as well
The Complete Metroplois (Lenticular packagaing only)
Price of Love
The Romantic Englishwoman
David Holzman's Diary
The Robber (packaging)
City of Life and Death (packaging)
Giorgio Moroder Presents Metropolis (this one I did the lion's share of the work... packaging, bonus, extras, etc... won a Saturn Award for this for "Best Special Edition Release"... I'm very proud of this one and love the packaging)
Stanley Kubrick's Fear and Desire
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
A Thousand Cuts (those are my hands on the cover)
Jacob
Boy (one of my favs)
Drawing Flies (another one that I did almost everything)
Shoot the Sun Down

I also was involved with all of the Redemption stuff (especially art directing the packaging... that's me posing on the cover of "Zombie Lake")

Olive Films
I wasn't at Olive very long (it's a long story). During my short time there I helped art direct packaging for titles like "The Pawnbroker" and "Sands of Iwo Jima".

The one title I was most involved in was "Moontrap". I felt really bad about this title because of the master that we had to use. I have a lot of regrets about this one as it should have been better. But there were things out of my control that prevented me from doing so.

The last thing I did there was help shepherd the MGM deal and personally curated the list of titles they picked up. I had a lot of plans for those titles that I didn't get to do (and ultimately applied those ideas to the Rewind Collection) and left Olive before they came out.

MVD Entertainment Group
Forbidden Zone
Comin At Ya!
Die Fighting
Listening (DVD only)
A House is Not a Home (DVD only)
Subterranea (DVD only... also produced the film)
Barney Thomson (DVD only)
Plan 9 (DVD only)
Bubba The Redneck Werewolf (DVD only)
Bleed (DVD only)
The Horde (DVD only)
Child Eater (DVD only)
Dirty (DVD only)
Navy Seals v Demons
Lycan
Attack Force Z
Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth [Special Edition] (produced the Special Edition release AND produced the movie)
6 Bullets to Hell (DVD Only)
Chokeslam
The Man From Earth: Holocene (produced the Blu-ray / DVD release AND co-wrote and produced the film)
Puppet Master [Limited Edition Retro VHS Style Packaging] (Blu-ray + DVD + Action Figure) (worked with Full Moon / Charles Band)
Pretty Bad Actress (DVD only)
Laserblast [Limited Edition Retro VHS Style Packaging] (Blu-ray + DVD + Action Figure) (worked with Full Moon / Charles Band)
Prehysteria (Blu-ray + DVD) (worked with Full Moon / Charles Band)
Parasite [Limited Edition VHS]

That's all I can think of right now. I know many of the releases outside of the Rewind / Marquee / Classics brands and "new films". Are there any of the "new films" (that say "DVD only") that you (or anyone here) would want on Blu-ray? It won't hurt my feelings if people say no (which is why many of these say "DVD only".

As far as a movie producer some of the movies I worked on are:

(THE VIOLENCE MOVIE: producer / writer / director)
(JEROME BIXBY'S THE MAN FROM EARTH: producer of the film... producer of the special edition release)
(SPARKS: producer)
(MISCHIEF NIGHT: co-writer / producer)
(THE UNWANTED: executive producer)
(PARANORMAL MOVIE: co-producer)
(SUBTERRANEA: producer)
(THE MAN FROM EARTH II: co-writer / producer...producer of the Blu-ray / DVD)

Most are. The MGM stuff in the Marquee Collection is region locked. Blast, Crazy Six and any non-MGM stuff (all but Windrider and Bright Lights) in the Rewind Collection is region free.

When you get your order just email MVD and they will send you corrected discs. It's all good.

Wow, awesome! Thanks for the list. I can certainly see a thread of your approach running through many of these releases. I figure I can pick up some of the stuff listed that I don't already have, trusting it will have some aspects that I'll enjoy.
Thanks again!

If you haven't seen it, one of my proudest acquisitions is "Boy" from Taika Waititi (director "Thor: Ragnarok"). Try that first.

MVD, I was wondering if we the fans can hep contribute with any upcoming releases (provided the licensors agree) like trying to find additional trailers and TV spots for the films for example?

Since you're in the UK, MVD are contractually bound to only send replacements within the US and Canada. I would tell Diabolik your situation and see what they could do. It's possible that Diabolik (being in the US) could put in a "replacement" request of their own to MVD and submit your receipt data and/or pictures of the item to receive the discs, and then once they get the replacement disc(s) sent to them they would be able send it to your destination.

Posted this in the Shadowbuilder thread but felt like I should post it here as well.

Just received my bluray from diabolikdvd of Shadowbuilder. It looks fantastic. Nice layer of fine grain. Lots of detail. The transfer handles the dark photography very well. It's largely unrestored (white specs and hairs pop up occasionally) but this is a great transfer of one of my all time favourite movie rentals from yesteryear. MVD didn't announce anything about the source but rest assured, if you're a fan of the film, you've never seen it look this good.

Joel - Reach out to Diabolik first. We have sent them replacements. If you have any issues, DM me and I can see what I can do.

Thank you SpaceBlackKnight for your help here.

We'll figure this out.
