Blu-ray Ninja

For talk about Blu-ray encodes, see 'The Anime Blu-ray Video Quality Thread'. Japanese Blu-rays will usually offer the best picture quality, but some of the cheaper international BDs, particularly the Italian BDs from Dynit, can give the JP BDs a run for their money.
Dynit BDs are usually just as good as the JP BDs, but some also have better picture quality than the JP BD, such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica. There are also a few UK/AU BDs of Aniplex titles that have same encode as the Aniplex/Aniplex of America version. As for PC viewing, madVR is the undefeated champion. It doesn't tamper with the picture out of the box and it also features a good set of image enhancement options if you want to reduce color banding or other problems. I used it on MPC-HC today to watch a self-made backup of my Italian Macross Plus Blu-ray with custom English subtitles. |
