I watch a lot of blu-rays so I pay for the high quality sound that accompanies the picture. what i'm wondering is what setting do I have to have the system in my apartment so that the PS3 does the decoding and sends it out the highest quality audio to the reciever?
You'll need a receiver capable of receiving Linear PCM Through HDMI. Even thought your PS3 decodes it, an optical cable will only get you the core track and not the lossless track.
So your best choice is to set it to Bitstream if your using optical.
