Default Audio Reciever

Hi all,
i am considering my options to upgrade my sound system,
i was browsing onkyo products and i noticed that they are Audio Video recievers, i am only interrested in an audio reciever that offers the audio features of onkyo 806 or 706, is there a similar product available?
thanks in advance

There are lots of 2-channel audio amplifiers around. Just do a search on some of the brands you're interested in. Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer, Marantz and the list goes on.

I don't quite understand your statement - are you going to run surround sound or is this a 2 channel audio only system? What sources will you run? What do you have for your present system? Finally will you intergrate any video at all into this system?

acutally i am interrested in a 7.1 setup with the latest HD audio decoder capabilities in HW, the input to the system will be either 7.1 analog from a computer sound card (current setup, can switch to fiber in case the new decoder has HD audio capability) or HDMI/ fiber from a Blu-ray player or a PS3 (future player consideration). video will be sent directly form the PC or the Blu-ray player to my 52A650.
i am currently having creative T7700 speakers (7.1 90 rms total ) connected to the audigy 2 Zs sound card. BTW i have a DDTs-100 that make me use the speakers with my satelite reciever and sony DVP-708 upscaler, i am not using it with Blu-rays since it's 6.1 channels with no HD audio decoders.
i am planning to upgrade to a 7.1 polk setup with max 150 W per channel and a powered AMP.

i was interrested in the ONKYO recievers but i really don't need their video capabilities, my TV already has 4 HDMI so i am not short on HDMI inputs.

thanks for your help and your time.

In reality you could just bypass the video part of the receiver (not run the video out to your tv). I'm not too familiar with strictly audio receivers that do the surround sound thing. Think of it as buying an audio receiver and getting the video for free. Maybe the better versed folks here have something else to add though.

All of the receivers that support the new codec's have video
that I have seen... Doesn't mean you have to use them, but
I think you would like them better than utilizing your TV
as you would switch both audio, and video at the same time

actually i was looking for amplifiers only and it turned out that getting the A/V recievers look cheapers than getting a 7 channels audio amp.
so thanks all for your replies
