• Theatrical Trailer

Color 85 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated PG-13
From Barry Sonnenfeld, the director of The Addams Family, Get Shorty and the Men in Black Trilogy, comes this hilarious action-comedy with an all-star cast that includes Tim Allen (The Santa Clause), Rene Russo (One Good Cop), Stanley Tucci (Big Night), Tom Sizemore (Strange Days), Johnny Knoxville (Men in Black II), Dennis Farina (Out of Sight), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water), Janeane Garofalo (Mystery Men), Patrick Warburton (TV’s Seinfeld), Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer), Omar Epps (Juice), Jason Lee (Mallrats), Andy Richter (Cabin Boy), DJ Qualls (Road Trip) and Sofia Vergara (TV’s Modern Family). Big Trouble has something for everyone, as it follows the fast and furious comedic chaos created when a mysterious suitcase that threatens the security of Miami changes the lives of a divorced dad, an unhappy housewife, two hitmen, a pair of street thugs, two love-struck teens, two FBI agents and a psychedelic toad.

Coming November 20th only on DVD!

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS (1997) Color 89 Minutes 1.33:1 Not Rated
Trish (Mary Stuart Masterson, Benny & Joon) and her six-year-old niece, Patsy, make their living as pickpockets. But when they try to take advantage of holiday shoppers with fat wallets, they run into a little snag—a department store security guard named Bert (Mark Ruffalo, Spotlight) catches them in the act. The store owner wants them arrested, but decides to wait until Christmas is over. To ensure they don't make a run for it, he entrusts their care to Bert. With jail on the horizon, Trish and Patsy are scared for their future. But as the holiday nears its end, it looks as though a budding romance might just save them after all. Directed by James Frawley (The Muppet Movie, The Big Bus) with a teleplay by Brian Hohlfeld (Follow That Bird) and co-starring David Hewlett (The Shape of Water) and comedy legend Howard Hesseman (TV’s WKRP in Cincinnati).

EBBIE (1995) Color 90 Minutes 1.33:1 Not Rated
Based on Charles Dickins’ timeless classic A Christmas Carol. Elizabeth "Ebbie" Scrooge (Susan Lucci, TV’s All My Children) is the tyrannical owner of Dobson's department store. She takes her career very seriously and cares little about those around her, firing employees, denying charity and breaking tradition to turn a profit. When Ebbie is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, she realizes that she knows the price of everything... but the value of nothing. As she gets a glimpse at the bridges she's burned and the love she's lost, Ebbie hopes for a fresh start. Will she get another chance to live a more generous life? Wonderfully directed by veteran George Kaczender (Don’t Let the Angels Fall) and co-starring Wendy Crewson (The Good Son), Molly Parker (TV’s Deadwood), Taran Noah Smith (TV’s Home Improvement) and Jeffrey DeMunn (TV’s Billions).

YOUNG PIONEERS (1976) Color 97 Minutes 1.33:1 Not Rated
Young and in love, David (Roger Kern) and Molly (Linda Purl) Beaton have just celebrated their wedding and are off to start their life together as homesteaders. Headed for the Dakota Territory with a few dollars and plenty of enthusiasm, they proudly stake their claim to get to work. But the Beatons quickly learn that life on the prairie isn't always easy and they must endure everything from harsh winters, to the birth of their first child, to a swarm of grasshoppers—all without the help of their families. With strong wills and support from each other, they won't give up hope, even when the going gets tough. Co-starring Robert Hays (Airplane!) and Robert Donner (High Plains Drifter).

YOUNG PIONEERS’ CHRISTMAS (1976) Color 90 Minutes 1.33:1 Not Rated
It's 1874 on the plains of the Dakotas and young couple David (Roger Kern) and Molly (Linda Purl) have just lost their first-born son. Overcome with grief, they seek support from their kind-hearted neighbors—Mr. Peters (Robert Donner) and his children, Nettie, Flora and Charlie, as well as bachelor Dan Gray (Robert Hays). The friends stick together through thick and thin, standing up for each other when poverty and railroad expansion threaten their livelihoods. As Christmas approaches, they each prepare a special gift and join together for the most memorable of all celebrations. This Christmas classic was the hit sequel to Young Pioneers, which was also televised in 1976, leading to short-lived 1978 series The Young Pioneers.

Yes, we've already announced GREAT SCOUT AND CATHOUSE THURSDAY. Should have another three or four.

Is Mean Dog Blues with MGM? I doubt it is given that it was a Bing Crosby Production.

It would be nice if we could get more Beach Party movies. Olive released two of them but none of the others. Very frustrating.

I don't know if all of these are with MGM, but I'd be happy with any of these AIP films:

Machine-Gun Kelly
A Bucket of Blood
Slaughter's Big Rip Off
Golden Needles
Bucktown
Hennessy
Murph the Surf
Return to Macon County
(I know there were music rights issues with this)
A Small Town in Texas
Street People
Private Files of J Edgar Hoover
Death Weekend
(highly doubt this one is still with MGM)
High-Ballin'
Mean Dog Blues

He's an unscrupulous newspaperman eager to exploit the story of a young woman's death by radium poisoning. She knows she's not really dying but can't pass up a free trip to New York with all the trimmings. Carole Lombard (Made for Each Other) and Fredric March (Inherit the Wind) co-star in this classic black comedy by the great William Wellman (Beau Geste). Legendary screenwriter Ben Hecht's sharply satirical screenplay, depicting the morbid nature of the scandal-hungry public, is more relevant than ever—with such wonderfully comic lines as "Doctor, I want to know the worst... we go to press in fifteen minutes!" Wellman keeps the comic pace frantic in one of the screen's cleverest screwball comedies. With a supporting cast featuring some of Hollywood's funniest character actors, including Margaret Hamilton (Driftwood), Charles Winninger (A Lady Takes a Chance) and Walter Connolly (It Happened One Night), Nothing Sacred is nothing less than hysterical.
Thumbs up for the new release of NOTHING SACRED. There's such a shortage of screwball comedies on blu-ray, even the major ones: no blu yet for BRINGING UP BABY, TWENTIETH CENTURY, MIDNIGHT, BALL OF FIRE, THE MORE THE MERRIER, RUGGLES OF RED GAP (at least not region A), EASY LIVING, HOLIDAY, not to mention many of the better Preston Sturges films, like THE LADY EVE, CHRISTMAS IN JULY, HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO, and MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK (plus the non-screwball but terrific THE GREAT MCGINTY). Many of these seem perfect for Kino.

TWO of the titles on your list are with KL.

KL Insider, once again I was wondering if KL has any of these in their latest MGM package:

Former TT titles

Chilly Scenes of Winter
1984
Runaway Train
Hound of the Baskervilles (KL already released it on a anamorphic DVD not too long ago)
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
Boxcar Bertha
Theater of Blood (may be now with Shout! Factory though)
Scream and Scream again (see above)

Now these are may need new HD transfers or already have ones MGM recently made

Jenifer on my Mind
Call Me Bwana (supposedly has a new MGM HD master going by HDTV sightings in Australia)
The Happy Theives
Three Sunday's to Live
Rise from The Ashes (SF may already have this one too since it may not have a HD master).
C.H.O.M.P.S
Pray TV (1980 Filmways production with Dabney Coleman)
Gas Pump Girls
The Happy Hooker
The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington
Happy Hooker Goes Hollywood

Again, just curious...

Excluding "1984", none of those TT titles have sold out and are still available to purchase from TT and/or SAE. The licenses are only up for grabs when titles sell out.

Didn't MGM terminate their relationship with Twilight Time and had that big sale on MGM titles at one of their storefronts? I don't think it was unusual to ask about those since KL re-released some former TT titles when they still had copies left.

Then how come KL re-released Brannigan, Inherit the Wind, and Judgment at Nuremberg when TT still had their copies left??

I just have to take a moment to second the shout out for Monster one of my favorite 50's creature features and one of my first Kino purchases. Fabulous practical creature, compelling documentary style presentation, sincere performances and good locations.

(Only drawback is it drags a bit in the middle without enough monster, and it's odd because the trailer has a short monster scene missing from the film that would have been right where it needed one - with the young couple.)

I can't remember where I read it but I recall a "just shy of yes, we have it" for STREET PEOPLE.

edit-- meant to say "when", not "where". It was on the Kino thread awhile ago....
