The store owner wants them arrested, but decides to wait until Christmas is over. To ensure they don't make a run for it, he entrusts their care to Bert. With jail on the horizon, Trish and Patsy are scared for their future. But as the holiday nears its end, it looks as though a budding romance might just save them after all. Overcome with grief, they seek support from their kind-hearted neighbors—Mr. Peters (Robert Donner) and his children, Nettie, Flora and Charlie, as well as bachelor Dan Gray (Robert Hays). The friends stick together through thick and thin, standing up for each other when poverty and railroad expansion threaten their livelihoods. As Christmas approaches, they each prepare a special gift and join together for the most memorable of all celebrations. This Christmas classic was the hit sequel to Young Pioneers, which was also televised in 1976, leading to short-lived 1978 series The Young Pioneers.

Is Mean Dog Blues with MGM? I doubt it is given that it was a Bing Crosby Production.

It would be nice if we could get more Beach Party movies. Olive released two of them but none of the others. Very frustrating.

Thumbs up for the new release of NOTHING SACRED. There's such a shortage of screwball comedies on blu-ray, even the major ones: no blu yet for BRINGING UP BABY, TWENTIETH CENTURY, MIDNIGHT, BALL OF FIRE, THE MORE THE MERRIER, RUGGLES OF RED GAP (at least not region A), EASY LIVING, HOLIDAY, not to mention many of the better Preston Sturges films, like THE LADY EVE, CHRISTMAS IN JULY, HAIL THE CONQUERING HERO, and MIRACLE OF MORGAN'S CREEK (plus the non-screwball but terrific THE GREAT MCGINTY). Many of these seem perfect for Kino.

MACHINE GUN KELLY is not with MGM - And we're pretty sure MURF, THE TURF, MAD DOG BLUES and DEATH WEEKEND are not with MGM. RETURN TO MACON COUNTY has legal issues. A BUCKET OF BLOOD was acquired by another label, but I heard they ran into some issues.

TWO of the titles on your list are with KL.

Excluding "1984", none of those TT titles have sold out and are still available to purchase from TT and/or SAE. The licenses are only up for grabs when titles sell out.

Didn't MGM terminate their relationship with Twilight Time and had that big sale on MGM titles at one of their storefronts? I don't think it was unusual to ask about those since KL re-released some former TT titles when they still had copies left.

They did, but past licenses still stand.

Wrong. Kino's releases were AFTER they were all sold out.

The Monster That Challenged the World is fantastic, and I mean that in all sincerity. I could have sworn that I wrote a review of it at some point, but it turns out that I only acknowledged it in a short post in the dedicated thread.

I just have to take a moment to second the shout out for Monster one of my favorite 50's creature features and one of my first Kino purchases. Fabulous practical creature, compelling documentary style presentation, sincere performances and good locations.

(Only drawback is it drags a bit in the middle without enough monster, and it's odd because the trailer has a short monster scene missing from the film that would have been right where it needed one - with the young couple.)

Hopefully Bucktown and Slaughters Big Rip Off though I suspect the latter might be with Olive as they released the original.

I can't remember where I read it but I recall a "just shy of yes, we have it" for STREET PEOPLE.

edit-- meant to say "when", not "where". It was on the Kino thread awhile ago....
