Default Polk Audio Direct??

Anyone ever bought from that? I know it's refurbed stuff. But is it at least close to new/flawless quality? I'm thinking about dropping $660/shipped of my tax return on a pair of A7's from that store they have. What is scaring me is it says if I wanted to send them back, I have to pay the shipping to them and then they have to admit something is wrong. I can handle some scratches on the wood or any other cosmetic defects for that price. But should I be weary of any other issues, considering it's so cheap?

It is Polk's official online store so I wouldn't worry about buying from them any more than buying from Amazon or your local Circuit City.

I bought a pair of Monitor 50s from there a couple of months ago and mine look brand new, not a scratch on them. I don't know if all of their refurbs are like this or if I got lucky, since these are the only refurbs I've ever purchased from them. I would definitely purchase from them again in the future based on the quality of my 50s. The shipping was pretty fast too. Oh and they sound great too

A guy on the forums here got some black vinyl and covered up the cherry and said it turned out decently. I wanted to see some pics.

It's a wood veneer so there's no sanding/repainting. A dye might work but that'd be a real hassle.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to go through them. Hopefully they put a CSi A4/6 center up for sale by the time I get my return.

I didn't want to miss the A7's and ordered them. I'm going to have to go with A7's and an Onkyo in the box center for a month or two Sure I'm going to be in audio bless with that setup

I was worried about not being able to just return or send them back if something is wrong. It says in the fine print that you have to pay the shipping to send them back to Polk. If it's what they charge for shipping it's $160 to ship them.

Sorry to post again.

I have to pay taxes on this? I ordered from CA to MO.

Sorry for the rant, half the benefit (usually) of online is avoiding taxes at the expense of having to wait a few days.

I guess Polk has a store somewhere in MO.

I think Polk charges regardless of where you're located. To be honest, while I agree on the tax thing, technically you're supposed to declare online purchases when you file your taxes at the end of the year.

LOL they just put this up

What's with the sales tax?
Hey, we don't like it any more than you do, but sales tax happens. In fact, states are starting to crack down on sales tax from consumers and businesses through internet sales. Polk Audio has determined that it has a taxable presence in most states, and therefore is required to collect and remit sales tax on all sales, including internet sales. Polk Audio sells product to, performs training for, and interacts locally with retailers in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia. It also owns property and employs citizens living in several of these states. States that levy a sales tax consider these circumstances to create a taxable presence in their state.

Wasn't on the site yesterday.

A7's arrived a few days ago, flawless looking and sounding great. The difference between them and Onkyo's I replaced is amazing. I'm still off timbre(sp?) on the center, can't wait to replace that. Of course now that I drop some money on something like them, my car is acting up on me . Still the site is 100% legit and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I bought a CS2 from them a while back. It came like new and works like new, I am very pleased. I wish they had more variety in there auctions. It seems like all you can find is cherry finish.

I wish they had more buy it now's. CSI A's seem to be rare on there and when they do come up, some jackass bids up to $20 less then the retail price. Course that is good for them, sucks for us.

(i just want to rant, sorry to disrespect the op)
i bid on a psw10 from polks ebay store and put my maximum bid at 79 dollars (which is the "buy now" price) the damn thing ended up selling for 90 some dollars. two items down was the same sub, same dealer, and a buy now price for 79 dollars, so why would you put the bid up to 90 something? do people like wasting precious dollars? anywho, i ended up purchasing it with the buy now feature. end rant.

I just received my CSi A4 that I purchased from Polk Direct to match the RTi A3's I recently purchased. Looks brand new and sounds great! All they did was slap a refurb sticker on the side of the box as far as I could tell. I got it for a buy it now price of $139! I live in Ohio so I checked their website everyday around 4 and 4:30 (1:00 and 1:30 out in California). They seem to list a lot of items at those times daily so if your looking for something, that seems to be the time to look...
