I guess if I had a Scope screen I would be kicking myself too.
I don't like the changing ratios because I use masking panels and find it annoying having to watch a movie with the black bars.

Then you must really hate blockbuster movies shown in IMAX theaters!

I actually do....I've only been to an IMAX once or twice. I couldn't stand it and frankly the screen was just to big for me. lol

too big??? that's the whole point of a movie theater screen
for the true IMAX screens though, do sit near the back of the auditorium (sit a good deal closer than that for the digiIMAX fake ones though)

I just finished building my theater and went with the Lucas recommendation of placing your hands on the the side of your face (like horse blinders). The whole screen should fit between your two hands for viewing. Works great for me and I'm happy with it. I like to be able to see the entire screen. Works out to be 85 inches wide (97.5 inches diag).

That’s nonsense....when looking straight ahead, your peripheral vision goes much further to the left & right than just the side of you face. If you enjoy 3D I would suggest going bigger if able, otherwise your setup will definitely not be very immersive.

I totally disagree with that. I don't want to miss part of what is going on nor move my head around the whole movie. This was built to THX specs and 100" screen is the max you want for my room size. Everyone so far has been way more impressed with the 3D than they have been at the theaters.

George Lucas he told me something I have never forgotten. "Sit in a chair, hold both hands up to the sides of your head, palms in. If your (projected)screen width extends beyond your hands, you will fatigue quickly. I find it to be a good rule of thumb."

Could be personal preference but bigger is not always better in my opinion.
