Lower the prices of the discs. For people that are price finicky, you have to show them the value/advantage of owning BD.

New Releases: 19.99 - 24.99 (Retail)
Catalog Releases: 14.99 - 19.99 (Retail)

35 dollars is ridiculous for one disc.

That's the key. The players are selling, but in order to facilitate the adoption of the format, you need affordable media.

The average Joe isn't going to pay 29.99 and up for a movie that he can buy on DVD for 15.99. Let's be honest with ourselves.

That's why we need to bring the prices down.

Exactly, and I would never pay 30 dollars for a single disc unless it was exclusive...like I did with the Bond steelbooks.

For now yes. I think that towards the end of the year they should pick it up a bit.

Lower the prices on the media and maybe have a BOGO every quarter.

That will at least generate excitement for the format. A lot of the people I talk to says the discs are just too pricey for their tastes.

I remember during the format war, they were doing BOGO's & 5 free with purchase of a BD player.

If they wanna dominate the market, lowering the prices on the media will make a LARGE impact.

I know I will buy more discs if the prices were lowered.

I honestly think that the main problem is price.

Because I know so many people who will not even buy DVDs because they are "to much", so they just stream or download...so why would they even consider paying 10-15 more for the best quality? Because the quality is good? If that was the case then why do people order Pizza Hut instead of paying more for real pizza...Not everyone is going to go broke for quality.

theres only a tiny bit of advertising online in the UK, so it could do with a hell of a lot more in the UK...cant comment about anywhere else but blu ray can only be seen in the odd megastore in the UK

hey guys, i buy a lot of blu-ray at future shop, archambeault and hmv and all the salesman and saleslady always say to me that a lot of people still buy bd by mistake not knowing the difference between bd and dvd yet, so yes bd still need a lot of advertisement before it replace dvd completely.

Stores should lower prices of blu rays and start to slow down the stocking of DVDs so people start getting it that the format has a death sentence!

I hardly see any blu-ray advertising on tv...they should defenetly keep pushing the envelope with commercials the way they were doing during the format war....
on a side note my local mom and pops video store started with a very small limited selection of blu rays....everytime i rent one they have to ask, do you have a blu-ray player?
so thats a sign that blu-ray is getting adopted slowly...anyone else have some sort of thing happening in your neihborhood?
