You shouldn't need to test anything, the replacement discs haven't been made yet. So if you have a disc now, you need to get it replaced.

Yes; they've used the wrong mono track. That is being replaced.
The 5.1 track has I think three drop-outs, so that's being fixed too. Some minor subtitle errors are also being fixed. So even if you don't notice or care about the drop-outs, it's worth getting the fixed mono track and bonus of having the minor subtitle errors fixed. |

I guess the confusion comes from the Eureka announcement that says:

What is wrong with the subtitles?

The wrong file was used on the disc, as an earlier version was accidentally used instead of the most recently updated one. There's a typo in one line, and a couple of dialogue corrections weren't applied. There's more detail further back in the thread

That's what Eureka label as the "Original UK cut", right? If so that's in the last download link I posted. Filename: PS2_export_eng_mono_end

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum. I occasionally read some stuff as a guest, and I actually took I think the last 4 or so days to read this little thread here top to bottom. Wow! First of all, I would like to point out how great this community is. A big thank you to everyone who provided their knowledge and materials directly to Eureka. This is awesome! Quote:
Anyway, the pitch problem with PS2's Cantonese 5.1 Track is really noticable to me. I am actually quite surprised that not many people on here seem to be bothered by it. If there is any statistic interest in the following: I pre-ordered the boxset on amazon.co.uk back in june and received it in Berlin, Germany on August 23rd or so. This must be like my 8th version of PS1 and 6th of PS2 that I have in my collection, lol. Anyway, I can confirm the audio dropouts on PS1's Cantonese 5.1 track when playing it on my PlayStation 4. |

Anyway, it's fine - cheers. Quote:
Maybe it's a problem at source, rather than Eureka? I'm assuming it's the same mix used (circa 2004) on IVL - can anyone upload the opening 5.1 sample from that? Pitching aside, it sounds terrible overall - overfiltered? I always insist on the inclusion of original mixes first and foremost (at least that was achieved here, thanks to IronGod), but it's unfortunate we're unable to have a good remix. Eureka has committed to issuing replacement discs for the audio issues. All you have to do is provide your purchase reference and ask to be added to their list for sending replacement.

Yes, definitely worth a blind buy. There will be a disc replacement so the audio issues shouldn't be a deal-breaker. And as it's a limited set that's likely to sell out, you should be able to sell or trade it later down the line if you decide it's not your bag.

Pitch too low compared to what? The UK DVD which may be in PAL and therefore speeded up?
