More hits than misses. And his misses are better than average...

So I'd give him a good score.

I guess both, when he makes movies based on characters he created (or based on stories fit for his style for the matter) he's the master...

On the other hand, Burton filming remakes... well... I hated his version of Planet of the apes...Charlie and the chocolate factory was ok... wonder how will Alce turn out as it is a mixture of the two... it is totally his style but it's based on a prior work...

I actually liked Charlie better then Willy Wonka. i know I will cause an uproar on this, but his verison is a lot closer to the book then the Gene Wilder crap. I just didn't like that movie at all. Planet of The Aapes, not better then the original, but a lot better then the crap sequels they made. I did like his twist though.

I liked his version besides the god awful oompa loompa songs. He should have just not had that in the movie.

Burton certainly seems limited in his abilities, unless he purposefully employs the exact same style for all of his movies.

I definitely think it's on purpose. With the exception of planet of the apes, I've always enjoyed his movies.

Nightmare Before Christmas, Ed Wood, Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, and Big Fish were all good Burton movies, in my opinion.

I've enjoyed almost all of his movies--- has a great "look" to all of his
movies-- very unique and offbeat.

PLANET OF THE APES was his only true misfire for me as of late.

i dont necessarily think you can apply a general title to tim burton; some of his movies have been great successes and i've really enjoyed them, others not so much. he's found a forumla that he's good at, keeps him busy, and keeps getting him work. i dont think theres anything wrong with that.
