It's sick if we're talking about third party sellers trying to make quick bucks on someone's death. It's exactly what happened here in France after the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo or after Johnny Halliday's death and so on.

If the buyers were his fans "only", then I'd totally agree with you, of course!
I'm one of the people who bought a load of his movies yesterday. I have a huge collection and I never got around to buy a lot of his movies yet and I know what happens when someone dies...they go OOS for months sometimes. I didn't want to take the chance of not being able to order for a long time, so I went ahead and bought most of what I didn't have. I also bought from 3rd party sellers and no one had jacked up prices.

That's always good. When Williams died prices for some of his titles skyrocketed across all venues in a matter of hours.

Oh it happens for sure! I just got lucky I guess. Glad I finally bought them regardless. Watched The Crew, Cannonball Run, and Smokey....which I already had.

Yeah, it makes you think about the actor, and want to experience their films. I have a lot of his films on BD--Malone, Smokey, Sharky, Physical Evidence, Gator, White Lightning, Boogie Nights, several others--but realized I didn't have Hooper for some reason. To my surprise, it was out of stock. Hooper's actually one of my favorites. I can't believe I didn't have it. I ended up buying it from a third-party seller for a decent price.

None of Burt's movies are really in danger of going OOP, as far as I can tell. If they sell out then Warner, Kino and whoever else will just print more.

Apparently OOP, just like the Matt Smith set. Only available from Amazon marketplace sellers, and I think I got the last copy from Amazon Canada.

New versions of Capaldi, Smith, & a combined Tennant/Eccleston set are coming in a few months... on DVD only.

Real Genius (Sony "Choice Collection" BD-R) appears to possibly be OOP, or at least MIA for now.

Amazon was really the only retailer it was sold at, which now lists it as unavailable.

Metropolis, which was also a MOD thru amazon is currently not available. But it is available used. It recently was made available thru Mill Creek at Wal Mart as a pressed disc. Maybe it’ll be a similar case?

If it wasn't a $28 BD-R I would have bought it. No way I'm paying that for a non-pressed disc.

I feel the same way about Finding Forrester. I want it, but not with a $30 price tag for a non-pressed disc.

Only available from marketplace sellers, at higher than the list price. Knowing Disney, there likely won't be a new release till the 30th anniversary in 2021. Still decently priced, grab one if you want it (and if you love great movies, trust me, you want this one).

It's decently priced because it's not out of print. How many times do people need to be reminded to check retailers other than Amazon before claiming a title is out of print?

Probably about as many times as people need to be reminded that Amazon is the biggest, most well stocked store on the internet, and that when they sell out of an item, it may be a precursor to something. This thread exists to alert people of titles that are or may soon be unavailable, and at Amazon, there are only 30 copies left, at inflated prices, and the usual "more on the way, order now and we'll deliver when available" link isn't there.

But thanks for schooling me, professor...

Get Eureka's release if you are region free. Cost me less than $10 shipped from the UK, for a pressed disc

You're the man now, dog. If there's a thread on pressed disc alternatives to US non-pressed titles I must have missed it but it would be a great idea. I know The Net is another that was foolishly made 'on demand' despite being pressed in multiple countries overseas.

The thread is for listing titles that are actually out of print, not for titles that are temporarily unavailable only at Amazon, which "may be a precursor to something" -- or could just mean that Amazon doesn't have it right now.

Also, when it comes to physical media, Amazon is often not the most well-stocked store on the internet (Exhibit A: Olive Films), especially when it comes to Disney titles, which they have a history of not having available during various stretches due to price disputes with Disney.

By the way, here's a link to Wal-Mart, who also has The Rocketeer readily available for $9.99: https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Rocke...u-ray/17324109

Next time, check more than Amazon before sounding the alarm.

Yup, I have the German Region Free release of 'The Net' which was $8 shipped from Amazon Germany during a sale

One effective way to search for titles from other countries is to choose 'All Countries' in the search bar on bluray.com and then search

As noirjunkie says above, I think this is more about Amazon's fight with Disney than it is stock levels. Other Disney releases are sold out on Amazon as well, like Tombstone, and they don't sell new releases until after street-date (if then).
