Films like Blade Runner 2049, The Last Jedi, and likely the upcoming release of Solo I go 4K with. The jury is still out on Fallen Kingdom-- I didn't see it theatrically in 3D and don't know how good it is or not.
I often like 3D versions (and did like TLJ 3D) but for Solo and JWFK I think the 2D worked better overall, still cool to see the 3D, but they did seem more made for 2D and better than way overall.

I would be curious to see the UHD version, but like you I thought the movie was terrible and don't really want to watch it again.

People are always going to compare the sequels to the original and the sequels will always come up short. That's no surprise really when you consider that the original movie was based on a novel written by a very well educated and talented writer. As good as the original movie was, when you compare it to the book it's the movie that comes up short.

If the movie is dark, don't bother with 3D and just get UHD.

No incentive for them to spend more, since a 4k DI doesn't mean more butts in seats.

How reliable is Target shipping out new releases? Since I pre-ordered this after this movie came out. This will be my first movie shipping from Target. I usually buy from Best Buy or Target. But this will be the first time a order shipped from Target as a pre-order. Can I expect it on release day or sooner or even later in the week?

Target pre-orders never arrive on release date. They typically arrive 1-2 days after for me. I try to grab in-store if possible in case the one they ship arrives damaged.

Only place I ever got releases early from was Bullmoose. I hear Diabolik does as well but their prices turn me away. Amazon it's always release day of course, with Prime. Best Buy I usually get it the day after release. Never ordered from Target online.

I thought the first half of this movie was pretty good, especially the opening scene. I will pick it up to add to the collection down the road when the price drops.

Well in that case I might have to cancel my order and run down the street (Target is exactly 1 mile from my house) and pick it up when they open. I picked up Infinity War that way and there was tons at opening. I only pre-ordered to make sure I get the Target exclusive, plus I'm to lazy to drive down the street that early in the morning.

How many copies will each store have to ensure I'll get a copy before 9 am? I don't want to cancel my order and get there and no copies are left.

Check here next Monday night:

http://www.dccoapps.com/target/?dpci=058-37-2218

Make sure to enter in your local zip code. Should give you a ballpark to see how many copies to expect.

Ugh. Low quantities might sway me towards the Target exclusive... I have been weirdly kinda thirsty to rewatch this in the last few days, despite how much I disliked it in theaters.

I remember being underwhelmed when I first watched it but strangely compelled to go back and see it again. Enjoyed it much more the second time when I knew what to expect and had copious amounts of vodka to numb my brain.

I didn't love this enough to warrant a day one purchase. I'm holding on to a more reasonable price come Black Friday.

Anyone seen this yet on digital and can compare it to the first Jurassic World on 4k in terms of video quality?

This was awful. I wasn't expecting anything good based on reviews but I was still shocked at how bad it was.

The first half of the movie is just The Lost World remade. The second half is just bizarre and even worse. It's like they found an unused script to a Resident Evil movie and decided to swap-in dinosaurs instead.

That's pretty much it, yeah. It's not that I don't like stoopid blockbusters but there was always something about the JP series, even at its worst it managed to stay a raptor's snout ahead of, say, the Transformers movies in terms of daftness but this one goes Full Bay(ona) and boy is it stoopid.
