Having both cuts on one package would certainly be the best of both worlds..
I'm on par with that.

Between all these wonderful SHOUT releases and films getting re-released on UHD AND new releases, I feel like the home video industry is trying to make me homeless. I may not have a house, but I'll have my blu-rays.

One of my favourite movies of all time, hope we will see it on 4K one day. If this does include the extended version (my favourite) on BD Steelbook, I would definitely be interested.

Nice artwork, but I still wish they would have gone with something like the old German BD release which I think had glorious artwork imo (with Dunbar and Kicking Bird) ->>

I was wondering if anyone could help?

My dad loves Dances With Wolves but is after the extended edition, so I got him the French version https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dance...Blu-ray/15067/, however, there is an issue with the French blu-ray the parts where they speak in Sioux the text on the screen is written in French and there is no English version of the text, and there are no English subtitles.

I have been told that this Steelbook version is region A locked

Does anyone know or would be able to advise if these German versions will be ok, with they have the Sioux the text on the screen in German and English / English subtitles will override the embedded Sioux the text on the screen?

I know this is not the correct thread but it's the most active and wondered if anyone would be able to help/advise?

Not sure if it'll look any better than the previous releases, given how Shout! encodes their discs at a constant bitrate. (In short, every scene gets equal importance, but scenes which need a high bitrate are the same as those which don't- which is a poor encoding algorithm)

If this is using a new scan, it should look better, but otherwise, I wouldn't expect a massive jump in terms of PQ. The appeal is the shorter theatrical cut (if it is included), and it's great for people who don't already own the film. I have the MGM disc, and I'm fine with it. Unless it's a massive jump in quality, I see no need to upgrade.

Very nice steelbook but I am going to pass on it, not because I don’t like it but the money situation. Going to be broke after all the stuff I am getting in October.

Shout! has now confirmed this is a "3 disc set loaded with extras which we will announce at a later date" and it's now available for pre-orders.

https://www.facebook.com/shoutfactor...6553221001310/

I'm not crazy about the cover art, though. I find it rather bland and would have preferred the original poster art. Which I'm surprised they didn't use, knowing Shout. But with three discs I could see it being one disc for each cut and then a third for all the extras.

We simply don't know for sure yet. The Fb post's reference to the release being "loaded with extras" intimates that there's new supplemental content. For all we know at this moment, there could be two discs of supplements. Or a two-disc presentation of the Extended and a disc of supps. Just because some reps said at Comic Con that they were "trying" to include both cuts doesn't mean it's a done deal.

Every week we get closer to street without clarity makes me skeptical: If both cuts were a lock, the business affairs/rights clearance ink would need to be dry far enough in advance for authoring and marketing. They'd be trumpeting the inclusion of both as a marketing point since it would be the first release to be so inclusive.

I'll flip a copy to watch the five new featurettes and then continue to wait to see what's going with MGM-via-Fox UHD BD support. Ironically, just earlier this week there was a HDR10+ announcement (of their "first certified products and first adopters" but no titles).

Why isn't there a UK version that has both cuts of the film?

Does anyone know if this is just some rights issue, there must be a reason?

I have both the UK and US releases so don't think I will get this. This movie needs a 4K release asap.

Another point is that the UK release was 5 1 and the extended US release is 7.1.

I think you might be looking for a "good" reason where one doesn't necessarily exist. It probably has more to do with the idea that bullet pointing the "Extended Cut" was a marketing hook for the US release in connection with the pic's 20th anni bow on BD, a hook deemed unnecessary or 'it's been done already' once the UK release happened a few years later.

Yes, but my dad has seen the extended edition previously and would like it on blu-ray, it doesn't make any sense not to release both editions or a 25th-anniversary edition here in the UK, do they not think people in the Uk want to watch/buy the extended edition?

I'm reminded of the Eagles song "Get Over It."

Why don't you get a Region mod kit or a Region-modded BD player for your pops and buy him the US BD? Marketplace listings for the BD start at $2 on Amazon US. There's even a Marketplace listing on Amazon UK for 10 pounds.
