congrats!

I've been desperately trying to sell my 2018 Q9FN to get a Z9F, even posting a price of $3,000 just to offload it - Nothing wrong with it (in fact one of the best panels I've seen, including uniformity) but thanks to the color uniformity calibration and the dolby vision I could see myself sticking with the Z9F for years.

Unfortunately, no one wants my 75 Q9FN! even at just $3,000! Guess I'll just keep it until it breaks...

Alex.
Near 300 Dolby Vision movies from movie studio's. Discs and Streaming. Makes the Q9FN less popular. For many peoples. Peoples buy 75inch often particularly for HT Movie viewing.

In transit as we speak. If all goes right we'll see our 1st allocation of A9Fs and Z9Fs this Friday.

WELL looks like the song has changed again.

The wife caught wind of my interest in upgrading. She got extremely pissed at my upgraditis and said if I can control it and hold on to it for another 2 years she will buy me whatever new flagship I want in 2020.

LOL. Well dang, the game's changed.

2020 would be an exciting year, a new flagship and a brand new revived Bronco truck. Seems like a good omen.

Your wife is going to be sorry I think, if that 2020 flagship turns out to be Sony's first commercial MicroLED?

Hah, we'll see.

It's so difficult to try to explain to her why I'd prefer to upgrade now.

"Honey, this unit doesn't track the EOTF curve correctly for some reason, causing the mid to high end to appear overexposed/blown out. Also, there's a dimming zone backlight delay that annoys the hell out of me, along with quite a bit of dimming related black crush."

Oh well, look at the "bright" side. You have those 2000+ nits at your disposal.

digitalfernsehende with a video review of af9 and zf9.

65 inch zf9, confirms 13x8 zones = 104 dimming zones on the 65 inch zf9.

shows really bad blooming into the letterbox bars, as would be expected of 104 zones, no magic can be done here.

also confirms that their 65 z9f did indeed have banding on it and has not been eliminated per uniformity calibration as many were hoping for.

Seems like Sony have started to lose their interest in high-end LCDs, if that video is anything to go by. Also seems like they put more effort into the A9F, which would go along with the higher pricing really. I'm guessing that they're gearing up for MicroLED and/or 8K displays at this point.

I have seen videos of the d9 doing the same and some of it not.
The sky isn't falling for me yet.

I'm still eagerly awaiting reviews but if you look at that German review, the initial reports as well as the prices for the Z9F series, I honestly do not have much faith in this...

It's still gonna be a corking LCD I think, better in several respects than the ZD9 but maybe not the ultimate ZD9 buster buster that it was initially thought of being (which IIRC Vincent cautioned against in one of his videos after the Sony unveiling event).

Value Electronics is having their yearly Flat Panel Shootout the 23rd of this month.

The 75Z9F will go up against...

LG’s OLED65E8PUA
Samsung’s QN75Q9FN
Sony’s XBR-65A9F

.

And I predict the A9F will be the big favorite. Because it's an OLED, and from the looks of it has the potential to be Sony's Panasonic-beater.

It's funny that Sony was on the verge of exiting the TV market just a few years ago despite having such a blind loyal consumer base like this.

It performs the same if not slightly exceeding the performance of all of the naysayers when the specs dropped and expected the worst.

It's rough to say but really you can only make something so flavorful with such limited ingredients. You ain't making filet mignon with ground beef.

It'll be most certainly an OLED.
