Not exactly accurate. The 2014 release of Hidden Fortress is OOP. It was a dual format release that was replaced by a BD only edition. They are not printing up more of the dual format edition, so it's technically out of print. That goes for any dual format release replaced by a BD-only edition (e.g. original Zatoichi box set is OOP). The 2016 release however is still being made.

I've wasted three years and six Barnes and Noble 50% sales not picking up the Zatoichi box. I will not make the same mistake this November.

It will be mine... Oh yes, it will be mine.

The one on Amazon with high prices that is out of stock is the 2016 blu ray only version, regardless, which is the one he asked about. It is not OOP nor is it about to be any OOP. It's just a stock issue on Amazon.

He never mentioned 2014 but you are right that version is OOP. Fortunately, the title itself is not OOP as Criterion's site would list that, which is the point.

Just once I'd like to see a celebrity visit the Criterion closet, shrug his shoulders and say, "I've got all of these already.".

Friedkin said something to the affect of, "Most of these I have." It would be great to see Paul Schrader or Scorsese in there. It's sucks to see people like Aubrey Plaza in there, who clearly don't give a shit and have no reference point to any of these films. The Safdie Bros. were cool, really great thoughts on some films IMO. Dano seems like a guy who knows quite a bit about film, based on his choices as an actor. I'm not a huge fan of many of his performances, but I can't deny that he has made interesting choices as far as the films he's been in.

You've got to think an "insider" follows this thread. So, how about an update for the faithful who spend a fortune on your titles?
The text below is from the "under construction" My Criterion page. Reading that, it almost sounds like there might not be a separate My Criterion section anymore, but it will be integrated into the rest of the (horrible) new site functionality. Does anyone else read it that way? Could that explain the delay...that it's not actually coming back at all?

My Criterion has been a huge success, but like the rest of the site, it has been overdue for an overhaul. Instead of bringing back the My Criterion landing page, we’ll be highlighting the best of your published lists in related contexts throughout the site. You’ll find all of your own lists, public and private, along with the lists you’ve favorited in the My Account section. We’re preserving the features that allow you to track your collection, make notes on individual titles, create editorial lists and top 10s with extended text, write comments, and share more easily. While we’re still working on it, what else would you like to see?

I just checked the site and the wording has changed as it previously mentioned that "My Criterion" would be back later this year - or words to that effect. Maybe it has been updated to reflect the number of inquires? Whatever, if the rest of the new site is anything to go by, it seems highly doubtful the revamp will be "better than ever."

"We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but we’re working hard so that our list-making and sharing features will be smoother and better than ever. Thanks for your patience!"

The “data presented” was just a quick example. You’ve been told by multiple people how it works so stop behaving like a contrary child.

I'm not saying, nor did I ever say, that they were going to - or even likely to - make announcements yesterday. Merely that the evidence presented didn't argue convincingly one way or the other. Clarifications were then made, and better evidence presented, and we all moved on.

Bates then jumped in and attempted to claim I was wrong in my initial finding of insufficient evidence, which I wasn't.

If you want to look at data you'll find there's very little evidence of Criterion announcing titles prior to the 15th of the month. It is much more likely for them to announce it on the 17th than the 14th.

This whole website revamping thing has to be the worst read of their customer base since the hipster-cut skinny tshirts

At this rate, we’ll see Jimmy Hoffa again before we see the new My Criterion page.

As in "some other company is already working on a release" or "I hope/expect/imagine some other company will since Criterion has passed"?

There’s other company already took it (I believe you can already guessed which one), he told me it’s on the way.

Just create a section for your Criterion titles on this site. It's basically the equivalent of the 'My Criterion' section. Criterion's new website is one of the few I haven't warmed up to given a few months. I thought, "I'll like this after a few months of using it" initially, but it's just atrocious. The only reason I'll ever go there is due to a flash sale, to be honest.

Does anyone know if there is a list of ONLY 4k Mastered Criterion releases? Currently.

I have Insomnia, La Notte and Ugetsu. That I am sure of. I really enjoy film on my 4k tv more so since upgrading to the 4k standard. Any help is appreciated.
