Its appears there is a work around to Disney Blu Ray not using Dolby Atmos. The foreign release of BFG is in Dolby Atmos. Does anyone know which one will play on a Region A blu ray player? Some say Region B with Region A and C untested. I will easily buy the one I can play as it will be a chance to hear a Gary Rydstrom(sound designer) sound track in Dolby Atmos. First ever.

Netherlands from E1 -- may be the best bet. The back cover photo I can find lists both ATMOS and show the A/B/C markings. Finding one to buy might be a bit trickier. None of the Amazon's seem to ship this version. I can find a couple sites which appear to ship international froa very reasonable amt. -- best price I can find is around $25USD shipped at bol.com. They seem to be a large and very legit site.

Just got the UK version today, 2D/3d with Atmos from Amazon UK. It is region locked like you said ( got a region mod for the oppo 203). I would say it looks better than a ton of 4k UHD movies on my Z9D. I would love them to make a HDR down the road.. The Atmos audio is very good.

I think I will go with the Netherlands option. That seems more cost effective that a mod, region b, or region free blu ray player upgrade. Great find. Thanks for sharing. I hope I can play it. Can't wait.

Great news! My BFG from Bol.com came today. It plays on my region A player. On the back it says region A,B and C. Finally, I can hear not only a Disney Blu Ray in Dolby Atmos but also one from Gary Rydstrom from Skywalker Sound. I am so excited. Can't wait to watch it. hariseldon, thank you for the suggestion. I really appreciate it. You should get half of the payment. Well worth the $20. Thanks again. Wish I could do this with Rogue One and Ant-Man but I'll take this.

Disney killed two birds with one stone here - nixing both the 3D and the Atmos mix that hardly any theater in the US played as such. A first immersive audio mix for a Spielberg film and Disney just chucked it - unfrickin' real - how despicable

I would bet it's locked. I'm also not seeing an Atmos label.
