This is one of my favorite films and I just ordered from Target with express shipping and it says it will be here tomorrow (9/18). It came in right under $25 but I'll take the hit if I can get it a week early. If they put it on hold or delay I'll just cancel and keep my Amazon pre-order. Probably not the best use of $10 but for this title it's worth it if they deliver with the 4k quality.

I'm not complaining though, I'm very much of the opinion that film is a moving target, and as much as I like the 35th transfer the green of the grass & foliage always looked a bit too verdant for the time of year it's supposed to be set (though they can't do anything about seemingly having lots of palm trees in suburban Illinois ), so if the 40th has toned them down then I'm not gonna argue with that.
Confirmed?
You know I have been saying it way longer than most humans

From those pics it looks like a different transfer. If the original look is cooler then this release looks like it’s following that.

I'm curious as well if there's any word on the audio. I think I heard it will have Atmos, if I did I heard it here. I'm hoping for the original uncompressed mono at least as one of the options.

I suspected it might be the same roughly as the 35th Blu-ray. I'll have to wait until Caps-a-holic does a proper comparison.
Sadly I'll likely have to boost the colors again when I watch it.

Why would you boost the colour?

When the 50th Anniversary restoration rolls around we will be watching Halloween in black and white because it will once again be much closer to Dean Cundy's original intended look.

Ha... wow, what an elitist and obnoxious thing to say. I usually don't like feeding trolls, but if you must know, 'cuz you're so "confused"... HALLOWEEN is one of my Top Five favorite flicks of all time, and I've bought absolutely every release in every format, all the way back to the original "Media" VHS copies in the early 80's. I like to keep a close eye on the latest incarnation, both for future-proofing my own library -- even if I only have a 1080p projector, for now -- and also because I frankly expected a newly-graded companion Blu-ray in this package, along with the UHD disc.

I've been a professional cinematographer and member of IATSE Local 600 for the last 22 years; I give lectures about cinematography and technology at film festivals and institutions like USC and Stanford; so yeah... I fully understand all the nuances behind HDR, bit depth, and the various color spaces; thanks for the tutorial.

Even if I didn't know what I was talking about, what the hell right do you have to object to or exclude anyone from any forum they want to post in? I obviously triggered you in some way; but why would my personal opinion make you lash out at a stranger like this? My opinion posed no threat to your opinion.

And by the way, Kurosawa is spelled "Kurosawa"... not Kurasawa.

That's fine if you like it. But the colors are certainly not what it looked like before, I'm not saying the old orange and overly blue revisionist Anchor Bay DVD is the way to go either. I'd rather take this one.

But if you have ever looked at the physical film or watched it in a theater you would know. There have been many discussions a while back. I'm not the only person to know this.

Lol, you're so right to call me on that; no sarcasm or kidding intended!

I've got to remember how much happier I always am when I stay away from the casual and anonymous rudeness on these forums. I am not built for these times. I just wanna be happy and enjoy the stuff I enjoy.
