David Warner is the man. I love him in everything he's in. And that's a lot of stuff. He seems to make an appearance in every 3rd or 4th film I watch.

He was in a not very good episode of Doctor Who a few years ago

I like Cold War. It's not going to end up on any "best of" lists anytime soon but it's not bad and has some really great moments (Clara realising Skaldak has left his armour being one). It went through a lot of rewrites and story changes due to budget concerns (the episode originally ended with the sub exploding with the Doctor, Clara and the crew escaping just in time) and major changes to the series itself (changing the companion from Victorian Clara, then named Beryl, to a modern day Clara). Series 7 Part 2 went through a lot of changes and had a drastically reduced budget fairly late on, leading to a lot of episodes having to undergo heavy rewrites and edits to remove more costly elements, so I think Cold War turned out as well as it could have done considering.

Me too, and I'm pretty sure consensus is that's a solid episode.

Sheesh, yet another release I just hear about, this year is getting really expensive with all the various blu ray and 4k re-releases! Fave live-action comic book based movies (or comic-bookish) in no particular order: Superman I & II, X-Men I, III, and Days of Future Past (rogue cut), Casshern, Flash Gordon, Hellboy I & II, Ping Pong, 20th Century Boys, Watchmen, The Storm Riders, Night Watch, The Four trilogy (though three wasn’t that great), Vidocq, The Vampire Effect, Tai Chi Zero / Tai Chi Hero, Adele Blanc-Sec, Vampire Cleanup Department (sure, it’s minor, but still enjoyable as a small film), Rendel (at least ‘decent’, but has a good anti-hero villain in it with a very nice beard), or maybe it’s good anti-villain villain? I suppose there are comic bookish / superhero elements to Chinese Tall Story as well

Yup. I was actually hoping my spending would calm down now that I own most of the movies I ever want to own, but then here comes 4k saying "NOPE!"

Criterion just announced its December titles and....no SUPERMAN on their list. Looks like an in house release from WB. But isn’t that what we have long suspected?

It was never Criterion in the first place. As far as I know this thread was the only place that mentioned a Criterion release and that was mostly as a joke.

I hope the colour is more balanced in the 4K remaster. I was a fan of the last remaster but thought it did look a bit too green a times, which is not a huge problem, just a minor quibble.

I have no idea if it is possible, but I do hope they can remaster the sound from the 2001 mix, but also provide the 2.0 original mix and 2001 mix as well, that would be nice!

If it had been a Criterion release, there'd be no 4K UHD in the first place, and no real point in talking about here in the UHD thread discussion
