They're going to remove the ability to scan receipts in app or website. They are forcing people to Walmart Pay if you want to use saving catcher feature.

It's Walmart's version Apple Pay and Google Pay. I don't like it since I like to have a physical receipt to rescan of IW isn't working.

Possibly. The email I got said they were removing the ability to scan receipts. If Walmart Pay does give a Pdf of the receipt, but with no qr code. The search scan on homepage of app won't read the receipt barcode as a receipt, but a UPC scan.

BTW, I see this as WalMarts way of (1) "forcing" people to use their pay system in order to get the benefit of the Savings Catcher or (2) eliminating the need to so call price match. In either case it is for WalMart's benefit and not the consumer.

Walmart Pay is the easiest way to use the results of Savings Catcher and has never been a big deal to use. I don't get what the fuss is. Some people need to complain about everything I guess. You want to use their savings program, then pay with your phone using their payment program. The world won't end.

It’s really about money. Apple Pay takes “x” amount of the total cost of transaction. Like visa, like MasterCard, Etc. This way they don’t have to share revenue w/Apple Pay. This is aimed at the new & future demographic of users who don’t think twice about using something like Apple Pay. There’s 4 generations of consumers who have become accustomed to using credit cards. Walmart could never just make an announcement “we will no longer accept “x” brand credit card” They’d commit financial suicide. It’s their new way of hooking the future customers on using Walmart Pay. They are big enough to execute this. It’s just their way of “future proofing” the next generation of customers. Business is all:

Says the one who is complaining about people complaining.

It's another thing you have to sign up for, manage a password, check for fraudulent or duplicate transactions. Plus another place where your credit/debit card information is stored. NO Thanks!

Of course I could spend hours complaining about Walmart. My local has been down to two shopping baskets for months now, can find one when I need one. I miss the Target down the road that closed.

But if your Walmart Pay is linked to your Visa, then Visa (or MC, etc.) still gets their cut. This will not save WM money. Target requires Red Card to be tied into a bank account. I suspect that is Walmart's end game.

It will end my participation in the Savings Catcher program. This is about Walmart suckering Millennials into using their Pay app.

This was my concern, but the e-mail said that you can print out your receipts for cash-back apps like Ibotta (which I use quite a bit). But, as you said, if there's no QR code, is Instawatch going bye-bye?

I don't think IW is going bye bye, but if they remove the app's ability to scan a receipts QR code (except for the one that would connect the app to a transaction), then that could mean you just get one shot at IW working without doing a return/rebuy with WM pay. However, if they keep the app's ability to scan a qr code, from the search function tab, but don't allow for it to submit to Savings Catcher, then you won't need to worry about WM pay.

It just depends how walmart will inact these these changes, since IW worked before Savngs Catcher began.

So, a $5 Blu-Ray bin just showed up at my local Walmart with movies that I don't believe were in the $7.88 bin.

I picked up:

Mother!
No Escape
Criminal

Each had a mint slipcover too!

Mother! really caught my eye as I haven't been able to find it for less than $15 prior to today.

Here's the Brickseek link for Mother! if you want to see if your local store has it:

I looked through the $7.88 bin this morning and saw several slipped copies of Mother!, No Escape, and Criminal. I also spotted several Disney films (The Rookie, Remember the Titans, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Alice in Wonderland (live action), etc.).

I ended up purchasing 6 films, and all of them rang up @ $5. This makes me wonder if every movie in there is currently ringing up @ $5, or if it's only selected titles. Here are the ones that I bought:

Igor
Hoodwinked
Purple Rain
Alice in Wonderland
(live action)
All Eyez on Me (this gave Instawatch)
Deep Blue Sea
