Denon 3808/4308/5308 firmware tracking thread here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=995566

Denon Feature Pack Upgrade thread here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1065934

One standard feature is the Internet Radio. Also, if you have a pc with music on your network, you can use that as a media server (play the music through your home theater system if you don't already have it connected to your HT system). The interface could be better, but it's very usable.

I received my 3808CI last week. It shipped with the latest firmware. I also downloaded and installed the feature pack upgrade through the receiver.

Make sure to follow the instructions on backing up you receiver configuration to a file on your pc before performing the firmware update!

Yes it's worth it. Go here and buy a long cable.

Use that, and when your update is done, you can roll the cable back up and store it away.

Not exactly cheap, but if you want the 3808CI connected continuously to your network, you could purchase a wireless bridge/access point (usually has 4 ports) which will connect any wired-only component to your network wirelessly (assuming you have a wireless router). If you upgrade to a BD-Live player, you could connect that too.

From your HT pics, is that a Linksys Wireless N router on the top shelf of the desk?

Another option (not exactly cheap either) is purchasing two powerline adapters (a kit would have two adapters) to utilize the electrical wiring in your living space as your ethernet connection. You would still need a wired or wireless router. One limitation with the powerline adapters is that most of them only have one RJ-45 port per adapter though Belkin recently released a 3-port powerline adapter.

blu jacket i can't get a cable unless its like 15 ft i would say. cause if u look at my HT pics the router is all the way on the other side.

worldturning
well i was lookin at access points, but on the ones i saw there is only 1 ethernet port for like 125 if it had like 3-4 fine but thats ridicoulous. do u know of any linksys that has 3-4? oh and yea thats a wireless n linksys router =D good eyes haha

also if i do this im definately thinking about going with a access point.

I have an old linksys router model BEFW1S4 its a wireless-b 2.4ghz 802.11b router, any chance i could set it up to be an access point or bridge?

I think you need a bridge, not an access point though some models are both. Here is a 4-port or 5-port Linksys wireless G bridge (can't find it on the Linksys site anymore though):

Check out the user reviews.

I have this Dlink wireless N bridge since I have a Dlink wireless N router, but should work with any wireless N router:

It's actually cheaper at another major online retailer that begins with an A.

If you want to give it a shot, here is a link to a set of directions that were posted (near bottom of page 1):

However though, I think you need a wireless bridge, not an access point and you would probably want WPA/WPA2 wireless security versus WEP security which is mentioned in the instructions.
